Alero olds 2004 wont start till you put gas in carburater by hand than starts runs great than when you shut it off between 1-2 hour it will not restart without putting gas in carb again we have replace fuel pump[ fuel filter and put on new regulater an new cadilac converter what could be the problem

this sounds messed up but do you live by any fields? i have many problems even in the cities with mice chewing up wire harnesses.. just a thought. my friend had a 2013 and she got to the doctors but wouldnt start after that. mice got to wire harness and it broke enough when she shut it off.

The same thing happened to my 03 olds Alero, i pluged my scan tool in and found out that my fuel pump was bad, I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and also checked the fuel injectors and blew out the fuel lines, now it's running great.

sound like theft security problem.when you try ten minutes did you leave ignition switch on position for ten minutes until the security light turn off then turn off ignition switch for 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.when you do 10 minute trick security light has to turn off or disappear when you see security light go off turn off switch 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.

I had the same problem it was 2 bad injector they where shorting out it would run for awhile shut off and not start for 2 hours

usually if thats the only way it will start that means you have no fuel to engine. first off, check the fuse and relay for the fuel pump. next get under car at fuel tank and put your hand on tank while someone turns ignition to on. if the pump works. then you can feel it vibrate. a fuel pump only turns on a few seconds, to pressurize the fuel line. then when running its on all the time. check fuse and relay first before doing anything else. have a good one !!

this could be a few things fuel pump getting weak or your alarm could of activated itself and it disables the fuel to the engine, I would try reseting the built in alarm system. first put the key in the ignition and turn on till all the lights come on and let it sit 10 minutes with the key on, then after the 10 minutes is over turn the key to the off position and wait 3 seconds and then try to start. if it starts which is possible because grand ams and olds aleros are bad for the security system locking up by them self. Hope this helps.

FUEL PUMP MAYBE PUMPING BUT IT MAY NOT HAVE THE RIGHT PRESSURE........

there is a bleeder on the gas rail bleed some out on a rag and see if it was gas you filled up with or water i have run in to gas stations not fixing cracked tanks and as you know water floats on gas.start rag on fire gas is good if it doesnt light than you need to hurt someone heehe. ok now if your gas is good then the next step is to turn your ignition key on but not try to start and listen to see if you can here the fuel pump kicken in if not there is your problem is so then you need to replace your fuel line filter. good luck.

Unfortunately this happens with Aleros. I have a 2004 olds alero and this happens to me quite frequently. Its a defect with the passlock security system. When it doesn't start, it thinks someone is trying to steal your car and doesn't allow the car to start. I have paid over $500 to repair this problem with no avail. I have paid to replace the entire system, but continue to have the problem. All you have to do each time this occurs is to leave the key in the "ON" position with the engine off (obviously as it wont start) for 10 MINUTES. The security light will flash during this time. When the security light stops flashing and remains constant, take out the key and start the car. This will work. Unfortunately you have to do this EVERY time, which is a pain the rear. I live in the desert and when this happens to me in 120 degree weather, its not fun!

Sorry. I'm never buying and Olds again!
