I have 1986 Cadillac deville with a HT4100 V8 that will not start. The car has a new engine with about 3000 miles on at although it has been sitting for about three and a half years. The engine will turn over, I am getting spark from the distributor. It seems that for some reason I am not getting fuel to the throttle body. I have put new gas in the tank, I have poured stabilizer into the fuel just in gas the old fuel had turned into jelly. I am think that possibly the fuel relay has gone bad, but I can find the location of the relay under the hood, I am hoping that it is not the fuel pump...what do you suggest I check? and where is the fuel relay breaker on this car? Thank you Marc

If the old fuel jelled the system will need a thorough flushing for starters and replace the fuel filter .

SOURCE: Engine will crank but will not turn over

Do this, take the top off the carb, being careful not to damage the gasket. Then take some carb cleaner and clean out the bowl and floats. Remove the needle valve and clean it out. Put it all back together and filling the bowl with carb cleaner. Start it with the starting fluid. Once you run the carb cleaner through it, it should start to run on it's own. Whatever you do don't shut it off for about 20-30 min unless you have to.

SOURCE: my 1986 cadillac deville cranks over but wont

It should be either no Spark or no Fuel.
Possible causes: Out of gas, no oil pressure, faulty oil pressure switch, Bad fuel-pump, fuel-pump relay, needs tune-up, defective ignition control module, wrong air/fuel ratio, defective IAC valve or EGR valve.
Other causes: Wrong timing, bad compression, or clogged CAT.

SOURCE: can a 3800 series 2

Sub frame , wires, computer, BCM are all different. A 4.5 or 4.9 engine will fit if you use your intake and gaskets for a 4100.

I need to know where the plug wires go.from spark plug to distibuter cap on a 1986 4.1 coupe deville(cad.)

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Fig. 1: GM (Cadillac) 250 (4.1L) V8 GM (Cadillac) 273 (4.5L) V8 Engine firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotation: counterclockwise 85872009.gif Fig. 2: GM (Oldsmobile) 307 (5.0L) V8 GM (Oldsmobile) 350 (5.7L) V8 w/EFI Engine firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotation: counterclockwise 85872009.gif Fig. 3: GM (Buick) 252 (4.1L) V6 Engine firing order: 1-6-5-4-3-2 Distributor rotation: clockwise 85872010.gif Fig. 4: GM (Cadillac) 368, 425, 472, 500 V8 Engine firing order: 1-5-6-3-4-2-7-8 Distributor rotation: clockwise 85872011.gif Fig. 5: GM (Cadillac) 429 V8 Engine firing order: 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 Distributor rotation: clockwise 85872012.gif prev.gif next.gif
