Starting problems Sometimes it will start and most of the time it wont I've tried a new relay, battery, I've tested the starter, alternator and no codes come up. Also when it does run when you shut the blower off the defrost runs on high, and the air bag light will come on occasionally and go off and then the power doors will not work sometimes. I was going to replace the ecm but after reading all the post I'm not sure that will fix the problem.

Your problem is the body control module. Have it tested.

SOURCE: 94 Concorde electrical

I have a similar problem with my 94 concorde... and was advised the on board computer was in need of replacement. Further research led to pulling the computer and cleaning the ground connection to the chassis. It will sometimes leak under the computer and corrode, and compromise the ground, which in turn will cause faulty "code" readings and the engine control light to come on.

SOURCE: 2004 Chrsyler Pacifica Won't Start

2 possible problem come to mind:

  • Bad ignition switch; faulty switch will occasionally make contact but not every time
  • Bad starter; less likely but possible; a bad starter will function when it's cold but when it heats up, takes much more power to make it work
I hope this helps with your problem and wish you the best of luck. Take care!

SOURCE: trouble starting and blinking dash

I had exactly the same problem this morning after returning from the store. I replaced the OEM battery with an Optima Red Top Model 25. Problem gone. Chrysler OEM batteries rarely last more than three years. You don't need to buy an Optima, but they do last a long time.

Good luck....

What's the fix for a 2011 KIA Soul that will not start sometimes. when the ignition key is turned there is a click but the starter does not engage. A push start works but is not a fix.

Starter drive and starter solenoid is needed to engage the starter with the flywheel. I would replace both parts at the same time. It is also possible the teeth on the flywheel are damaged.

My 2002 Toyota Tundra 4.7(V8) has an intermittent start and the battery drains overnight from 12.5V to around 10.0V. I've tested for parasitic draw and every time I test my reading is ~ .025A...

I think I would attack the drain problem first. Something has to be draining the battery, it does not have to be a steady drain. It could be something serious for 30 min in the middle of the night. You may need to pull fuses one at a time to try to narrow down the circuit. it could even be a weak component in the alternator or computer. I know you said you replaced the alternator.
If it goes down overnight, it should also go down during the day. Can you leave the meter connected and check it every hour or so ? ?
Another component that could be suspect is the key switch. I know you said you checked it, but it could be a part-time problem.
When the starter or relay clicks, I would want to know how much voltage I have at the starter post, and coming out of the key switch. Then how much at each point in between. You also have a neutral safety switch in that circuit.

1993 Honda accord, the battery is good but when i try to start it it wont turn over. The alternator is good and all my fuses are good, why wont it turn over? Should i get a new starter?

To begin with, turning over means different things to different people.
Does the engine crank but not start, or not crank at all ?
If it cranks but does not start, Honda cars are known to have weak fuel pump relays which would need to be tested.

Battery keeps drianing alternator test good but have a short in the engine ignitin feed

Even though the alternator tested good it still may be your problem. Unhook the alternator power wire and let the car set for the amount of time it usually takes to run down the battery. If it starts right up, you've found your problem. If that doesn't help, sometimes a relay can stick and cause a draw on the battery. You might try the same thing with the relays, pull them out and let it set. Replace them and see if it starts.

My 2007 corolla won't start. When I turn the key in the ignition the starter makes a rapid clicking noise. I?ve tried putting the car in neutral and starting it that way, but had no luck. I?ve also tried...

1st check the main cable to the starter make sure it is clean and tight, disconnect battery first, after that there should be a small wire going to the starter jump that small connector to the main battery cable on the starter (IGNITION OFF) if it cranks you have a wiring or ignition switch problem if not Starter time just make sure you get a very good quality starter some cheap and even lifetime starters are so poorly made that even after you replace them you still have a problem only a bad noise coming from the new starter you just put in.

Intermittent starter problem, sometimes turns, sometimes not. changed battery, tested bad, starter worked twice, stopped turning. changed starter, still wont turn.

Many European cars have relays that trigger the starter, maybe yours is bad? New battery and new starter? Need to check battery connections to vehicle especially ground wire to engine block. Starter face and flywheel housing have to be clean for good ground connection.
When it won't start do you try key numerous times? Sometimes (rarely) bad keyswitch.
