Rebuild starter or get one remanufactured?

4wd or not, , we can not guess drive-trains, ever. why not post VIN?

REL is electroncs
so you luck out on TCM there is no TCM here at all
so is more swap worthy.
the problem huge is, 4wd
and transmssions can have mounts very differnet,
even the bell can different from I4 to I6 or even for other brands of cars. learn to ask rebuilder this. they sure know this and it is complex.

your first question should be , where do i find the tools to rebuild a starter & alternator ? most just buy rebuilt or remanufactured starters & alternators .

Sounds like the starter, try tapping on the starter with a hammer while trying to start it, If it starts its the starter. Also, if there is a place near by that rebuilds starters its alot cheaper than buying a new one. They put new parts in so its as good as a remanufactured one from the parts store.

This happened to me. One of the brushes on the motor was worn down till it didn't touch the commutator. I bought a new brush from a starter rebuilding shop and soldered the wire myself. It works fine now. You need a brush from an automotive shop because at 12 volts, it draws a lot of current. So the brush has copper. A graphite brush from another motor shop wouldn't work.

usually mounted on the driver side or passenger side through the motor and possible a plate into the transmission. remove the negative terminal from the battery and set aside so it doesn't touch the negative post, climb under the truck, remove the starter and power and signal leads, replace with new or quality remanufactured, installation is reverse procedure of removal

Actually this sounds more like your left tire is rubbing against the tire well, this was relatively common amongst these models, as I have one myself that did that while turning right, I solved it by hammering out the dent that was in the well. Hope this helped GL!

most times if you are installing a remanufactured
starter the proper shims would come in the box.
it's hard to tell what is going on from your discription.starter does not start ? does it make any noises, clicking sounds or anything ?

you just said it you need a new fan clutch
