My 1995 Villager Engine light is on. I changed oxygen sensor and it was fixed for a few days. Then the light come on again, and this time, the engine is very difficult to start at cold, and the transmission shift very rough at running. idling is also rough. I replaced a new battery that just help the cold starting problem a little.

You may have a broken crankshaft snout. This was a common problem on 93-95 Villagers if customer replaced a/c belt and overtightened the belt tensioner.

Did you ecently have the belt changed?
Also, remove distributor cap and rotor ( 1 screw) and slotted plate/ Look for brown dust on optical sensors. If yes clean them and see if van starts. If it starts you will need a new distributor (ebay $200) as the bearing is going.

How many oxygen censor in 1997 mercury villager van I have to change new one some one told me more than two censor problem is check engine light is on

I have a 1997 Mercury Villager with many miles. We get poor gas mileage. The check engine light is on. I want to replace the 02 sensor but cannot locate it on the engine. Is there a link with photo of physical location of the sensor and what are the steps to replace it?

My 98 villager have check engine light on with code PO135. I replaced bank 1 senor 1. after driving little bit same code came back again. then I replaced thermostat (the metar was always low, now it is ok)...

go to this website where there are files that will help you diagnose your issue.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/villagerquest/

P0135 is for heater circuit portion of the oxygen sensor circuit, not the sensor itself. It would just mean it's not heating the sensor so it will just delay the sensor controlling fuel trim until a few minutes later.

98 mercury villager OBD I code P0135

This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1. The heated circuit in the oxygen sensor decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0135.
Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors.
Since you have already changed out your O2 sensor (as long as you used to OEM replacement and not the "Universal" replacement) you should not have to replace it again. You might check your thermostat to part of the time it takes for the O2 sensor to start switching being based on coolant temp, if your thermostat is not operating properly, it could cause the coolant temp to take longer than what is considered by the ECM to be normal.

Check Engine Light Comes on Intermittently

The P0141 code points to the O2 sensor heater circuit. It could be that there is a short in the wiring to the O2 sensor or it could be that the O2 sensor heating element itself is bad. The code is for O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Bank 1 means its the O2 sensor connected to the exhaust pipe that runs to cylinder #1. Sensor 2 means that it is likely the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter on the same exhaust pipe.

How do I retrieve diagnostic codes from my 1995 Nissan Quest GXE van

it likely is not a problem. The oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe gets affected by fuel with even just 10% ethanol. Almost all gas has 10% ethanol now. Don't worry about it.

Regulator problems

clean the air filter and oxygen sensor located in the duct leading to the air filter. buy a can of mass air flow sensor cleaner from autozone. if that doesnt work then completely replace the mass air flow sensor , if that still doesnt work try replacing the oxygen sensor. also try putting seafoam. in your gas tank from autozone itll clean out your injectors.and if your still having problems stalling and not restarting then it could be your timing belt and you might need a whole new engine, i had to put a whole new engine in mine becuase the timing was off.
