2004 aveo keeps stalling

Sometimes when I start up my Aveo it will run just fine, but other times it stalls on me as soon as I take my foot off the gas.

I forgot to mention that we replaced the fuel pump. It seemed okay the first couple of days and now it is starting again. Not as often, but it does just simply cut out. There is no warning, no shuddering, no noises, the engine just stops. No Engine lights come on. I will have to take it in as suggested.

SOURCE: Check Engine light staying on in Chevy Aveo. Yes

Many things can cause this problem...unfortunately the only proven way to remidy this situation is to have your car scanned by a reputable mechanic with a diagonstic machine $40-$80. This will tell what exactly is causing the check engine light to come on, in the long run its much cheaper replacing whats wrong than trying to replace things that arnt wrong.

Do you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to on? I usually open the fuel filler door and listen while an assistant turns the ignition switch. It should run for a few seconds.

Car stalls out when stopping only way to keep running is by having foot on gas and brake pedal but its not all the time

from the sounds of things you might have an air leak in the system somwhere, check your hoses for splits what happens is the system is overcompensating for you using the brake as this activates the brake servo and "steals" the air have a listen arround the engine bay area and see if you can hear a wooshing sound or a sucking sound, that might solve your prob, hope this helps
