SOURCE: I was driving home and

Ladytkk:

The clicking sound is the starter solenoid (a relay) trying to connect the starter to the battery. This is normal when the battery is run down. the first thing to do is to see if you can charge the battery.
If you do not have a charger, see if you can borrow one. BTW, a small charger is a good thing to have, especially if lights or etc are left on and your battery is dead when its time to go to work. You can get a small one at a Walmart like store for a reasonable fee. Connect the red lead of the charger to the red (+) terminal of the battery and the black lead of the charger to the black (-) lead of the battery. Let it charge for at least 5 or 6 hours. Unplug the charger, disconnect it from the battery and try to start the car. It will probably start. At first opportunity, drive the car to one of the major auto parts stores like AutoZone and have them load test the battery. If you need a new battery, most stores will install it right there.

Hope this helps Good luck Loringh Please give me a rating Thks

SOURCE: 98 oldmobile intrigue just clicks when trying to start it

the problem is with your ignition switch. to check it further, attach a piece of wire to the positive terminal of the starter and directly make contact with positive terminal of the battery. do this with the key in the ignition and on position.

99 olds intrigue power steering belt very hot, I just replaced the power steering pump, it's makes a clicking sound and is getting very hot, sounds like it could be the steering colume.

remove the drive belt and check each pulley by hand for drag, or noise. Usually noises from the serpentine belt area are from the tensioner pulley, but since you installed a new PS pump I'd pay particular attention to that-also, watch the belt and pulleys for any 'wobble' too.

if an ignition switch fails, sometimes you can jiggle the key and it will start right up. its very hard to tell. but if you can start it by bypassing the ignition switch, then its the switch itself. go to this site for more detailed info--- aa1car.com/library/1999/cm119948.htm---this page should help. click on top link.

I don't belive this would cause the engine not to start, the block heater only keeps the motor oil & coolant warm so they don't freeze overnite. try looking for lack of spark or fuel pressure.

Car wont start. a constant clickn noise. jumping the car didnt start it

Sounds like your battery will not take a charge meaning its bad try getting it tested before replacement just to make sure. But pretty sure that is the problem.
