Replace driver side mirror

to get the correct name , go to a service dealer and ask for the description and the part number of the part you want . you can identify it on the parts computer or parts book

find a used mirror on eBay, there are lots for sale. then go to youtube.com and search for a video for saturn mirror, or saturn door panel. taking the mirror off is a step in removing the outside door panels so i am sure there is a how-to video there.

You may be lucky and just have to remove the top section just behind the mirror. Usually you have to remove the door panel to access the bolts.

Ebay, Craigslist, and local junkyards are a good place to find used mirrors.
They have the options, based on the junk cars in their yards and they can look around in other junkyards online to find the right one. I would not think you would pay more than 20-30 dollars. I had 4 saturns and replacing the mirrors was easy, but then I have a roll around tool box and 30 years of backyard wrenching experience. Basically you remove that interior cosmetic part at the front of your window, dig through the insulation, find the bolt heads and remove them. The mirror comes off and you reverse the process to install.

Remove the inside cosmetic plastic panel at the front of the driver's window, there is a phillips head screw holding it on. You will have to have a very small allen wrench to take out the set screw holding the mirror adjuster knob mechanism into the plastic panel. Remove the three nuts you find under the insulation and the mirror will come loose. Reinstall in reverse order.

Unless the 1999 uses a different mirror from my '96, if it has an inside adjuster lever it's cables in the mirror. You can find aftermarket replacements for around $30 to $40 for Saturns.

use a small flad bladed screwdriver to remove panel on inside of door behind mirror. then remove the 3 10mm nuts holding on the mirror. if it is a power mirror you will need to unplug the electrical connection.

There is a black plastic cover on the other side of the mirror, take it off make sure you have the wires long enough to splice back to you will be able to see all the bolts that need to come off to replace the mirror. You will be able to figure out the rest it is very simple

My Saturn is a 2001. I just worked a screwdriver around the rim of the plastic trim; it is held on pretty tightly by a couple of metal clips. Can anyone tell me the size tof the bolts holding the mirror (so I borrow the right socket from my neighbor :))?
