Subaru Impreza gas cap door won't open

On my 2005 Subaru Impreza the door to the gas cap won't open. Any suggestions?

If there is one - In trunk - directly behind the gas filler door - behind trunkliner (carpet)
The cable should not have any problems... use a partner to hold the door release and try and pry it open with your fingers.
The spring popper may be bad.
Try this if you dont have an assistant :D

I had this problem with my STI -- easy to fix by bending the little metal on the inside of the fuel door that provides the spring action to open the door. 5 second fix

Sometimes a faulty gas cap can set this code. If you ever replaced the filler cap with an aftermarket cap, get an oem gas cap from Subaru. If that isn't the problem, a shop could run a smoke test of the evap system to look for a leak. Fuel vapors are escaping from the evap system somewhere between the gas tank and the charcoal canister and the engine. If you can smell gas at times from front or back of car it may help you to start looking for the leak, but a smoke test is often required.

Subru impreza gas cap won't open

Well, first maybe try pushing in on the cap while twisting it counter clock-wise. You may, if that doesn't work, just hit it with a rubber mallet. Simply break it apart and get a new one. They aren't very expensive.

The symptom you describe, assuming there are no external coolant leaks, indicate a high possibility of a failing cylinder head gasket.

I suggest you ask your local repairer to carry out a block test that uses a chemical that changes colour when it comes into contact with combustion gas.

you may have to pry it open, and then check to see if the spring behind the door has popped out. This may be a common problem

Hi:
You need to have your Subaru scanned to see what is tripping the light. There are hundreds of codes, some as simple as a loose gas cap, some more complicated. Go to your local auto parts store, such as Auto zone, and they will scan the code for free and tell you a general idea as to what caused it.

Try replacing the transmission filter and the trannie fluid. Mine would only go in reverse, and now it drives pretty well. This year has a screw on filter. Hope this helps
