Usually, you remove and clean the electronic sensor that is attached to the accelerator pedal. After disconnection and cleaning, it will relearn. Clean the Throttle body at the same time which is at the other end of the process.
Hello - this diagnostic code, P1589, is a throttle relearning error - typically done after a throttle control unit is replaced. This error occurs during deceleration testing, when the vehicle is almost at a stop - but the acceleration sensor in the vehicle doesn't register that deceleration correctly.

P1589 Use a scan tool or Techstream and calibrate deceleration sensor. While performing the calibration follow on screen instructions. You can do the calibration by clicking Engine and ECT> Utility> Reset Memory> After that click "deceleration 0 point calibration" while you do that make sure that your car IGN switch is "ON", hand brake pulled and your gear shift is on "P" or Neutral. At last perform the CVT Oil Calibration. Some automatic transmission DTCs cause the MIL to come on. If the MIL is on and no DTCs are indicated in the EFI system, select the A/T system, and check for automatic transmission DTCs. If the problem persists, check the Yaw rate sensor for its position or replace the Brake Actuator Skid control ECU (ABS actuator assembly).
The P1589 means Autolamp Delay Increase Circuit Short To Battery. you can erase the fault code with your obd2 scanner first, after then, if the check engine light comes on again, you should take it to be fixed.
