Take the wiper arms off at the wiper shafts Cycle the wipers and park normally. Refit the arms in the parked position. Make sure the nuts are tight or are fitted correctly
Testimonial: "thank you and ill give it a try, just one more question if the problem is inetermitant will it cause more damage if they try to go to the origional position and have been moved 90 degrees in the opposite direction?"

Th car requires you to push the brake pedal down in order to unlock the column shifter - there's a pressure switch on the brake pedal arm that is closed when you push the pedal down. It's likely that this switch has become defective. Change that and you should be back in business.

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus with a similar malfunction the intermittent wiper function is erratic, but the wipers park properly. I'm the original owner & this malfunction was in the car from the factory. I have a regular Ford Dealership manual & came to the conclusion that the Generic Electronic Module located behind the fuse panel is bad (computer glitch in programming) ! Ford Dealers want over $ 300.00 for a brand new module, I haven't checked with my local used auto parts recycler yet, but I know it will be less than the dealer price !

With a manual transmission, you shift gears but with an automatic transmission your gears shift on their own. Your Taurus comes with main gears and planetary gears, the latter which revolve around the main gears. You can't see them at work because they're inside the transmission housing.
When the Automatic transmission gear shift is not working this is
a very serious problem that causes by several reasons and one of those is
completely damage transmission. It may also possible that the transmission has
a very low amount of transmission fluid. However, if the fluid level is enough, another reason is Bad
fluid pump or Gear selector linkage problem.
When an automatic transmission has bad fluid pump all
the gears will not work, because automatic transmission depends on the
hydraulic fluid pressure that is created by the fluid pump to pump transmission
fluid throughout the transmission assembly to work properly.
Same with the fluid pump, when an automatic transmission has a problem on gear selector
linkage all gears will not work. Gear selector is the one that determines which
gear is going to operate. When a gear selector linkage is broken or out of
adjustment it cannot operate properly causing the gear not to work.
Diagnose auto problem:
Low transmission fluid, Faulty fluid pump or out of adjustments gear selector
linkage.
When the problem is
low level automatic transmission fluid, just add enough amount of fluid to fix
the problem. But if the problem has nothing to do with the fluid level .Then
inspect the fluid pump and the gear selector linkage, the mechanic probably
will open up the transmission for better diagnosis. If the problem is not fluid
pump or gear selector linkage then you has no other option but to replace the
transmission assembly with a new one since the automatic
transmission gear shift is not working. The other possibility Clutch pack may be shot.Another component of note is the transmission filter. Like any filter, its job is to collect sludge which will accumulate over time and miles driven.Replace both the fluid and the filter if your transmission begins to slip, is difficult to shift, or hard to shift when the engine is still cold.

simple actually- 1- on wiper arms- flip up cap on end- remove nut, 2 using a screw driver and small wood block lift arms off driver screw.3 turn key on cycle wipers- turn off 4- reattach arms in correct position and retighten-., test with arms up- not on glass- is still wrong- the link from wiper motor to cross arm wrong- - buy a HAYES repair manual- will show how to remove cowl cover yourself- is easy , then follow instuctions in manual to correct link
