My 1989 firebird 305 TBI isn't spraying fuel from throttle body injectors. It has new fuel pump and new fuel filter. It starts when carb starter fluid is sprayed into the throttle body but then dies immediately after. I'm not sure what to check, any help is appreciated

even tho you have a new fuel pump is it working? check with volt meter, test light, listen if it comes on when you first turn the key on, if not, check fuel pump fuze

Sounds to be your fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail

Are you getting fire to the plugs. If you are and after you spray fuel into the TBI it just tries to start but will not I suggest you pull the spark plug out of #7 cylinder and if it doesn't have fuel on it this tells me the engine is not pulling vacuum to take the fuel. If this is so than you need to check the catalytic converter to be sure it is not plugged. You can pull the o2 sensor if it is ahead of the cat. and see if the vehicle will start. My 1994 350 just went through this.

SOURCE: throttle body injectors not fiering but there is fuel pressure

the injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up

I have 1985 cadillac fleetwood brougham that will not start. I replaced fuel pump and it still wont start. But if you spray starter fluid in caberator/fuel injector. It will start but one that runs out ,...

Did you change the fuel filter it maybe plugged. The fuel regulator maybe weak or not working as well. It is definitely a fuel problem. Is the engine carb or throttle body as I am not sure. If it is a carb the pump in the carb maybe weak or if it is a TBI then check and make sure the injectors are opening in key on position before start up. Hope this helps.

91chevy 5.0 l TBI won't spray any fuel out of injectors .can spray chemtool carb cleaner in throttle body and it starts up . have replaced distributor twice still no injector spray ?

could be clogged up, clean injectors. gunk in bottom of fuel tank can be sucked through and block injectors. also check fuel pump.

91 chevy 1500 p u the tbi is not spraying fuel out the 2 injectors spray starting fluid in the throttle body and it will start

Check all engine grounds as the ECU relies on the control unit to find a ground and pulse the injectors. Also check the crankshaft sensor to make sure its pulsing when rotated. It should produce a 5 volt reference as it moves. Also check that you have fuel pressure as the pump also relies on a good ground to power up. Everything is controlled from the ECU.

92 Camero SOMETIMES wont start, backfires or starts rough - but will run fine after it DOES start

I would want to know if it is ignition or fuel for sure. There are a few things you can try to narrow down the possible cause.
What does the cap and rotor look like, and is the spark a strong blue when it is running rough ?
Have you checked the actual fuel pressure with a gauge ? Does it matter if you spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the throttle body ?
Any trouble codes stored in the computer ?
Its possible the coolant temp sensor is wrong and the computer thinks the air temp is 90 degrees instead of say 20 degrees. Or there is moisture in the dist cap or on the plug wires, and so on.

Car cranks but wont start

replace your injectors. your vehicle is getting the fuel to start from the starter fluid. however the injectors arent giving it the gas that it needs to stay cranked

1990 Buick Century,F.I. was dirty, car ran rough, son, trying to help sprayed carb cleaner on what he thought was a carb, not running at the time, now it needs to be primed to start, can l do anything ?

he was spraying into a throttle body that consists of an injector(TBI). these cars suffer terribly from EGS(ethanol gas syndrome). Do these simple steps. First; change out fuel filter(buy 2 of these-get the cheapest ones you kind find). Buy a can of SEAFOAM when you get the filters. You need to fill tank with as much Premium fuel as you can.

Change out filter, add SF to gas. Keep car running at least 5 minutes on as steady an idle as you can. Drive car hard for at least 2-3 miles. When you get it home; change out fuel filter again.

The fuel and the emission systems should start to get better. One other thing: buy a new PCV valve(probably cost4-6 bucks) replace it also.

Clean out air filter or replace. Do not!, use carb cleaner or ether again. This should be helpng the cleansing process by now. Your car is full of corn liquor by-product and excessive amounts of water. It's in your fuel; your emission systems and your TBI. Your pump may be filled with it, and not have enough Psi to allow the pump to pump properly. In extreme cases, we've had to replace pump, remove fuel tank and clean it.

When this is all done, always add SFoam every 3-5000 miles to prevent this from happening again.

And at times; the crank/cam sensor has to be replaced.

I don't know how much this car is worth to you, but this is simplier than buying an engine.

The worst case I've seen is the ethanol burns a valve and it has to be rebuild. So try this, I think you can rescue it. Good Luck.

1998 Firebird fuel filter

Need more information. Has car been sitting? Is it getting fuel to the intake? ( injector or throttle body?) What engine does it have? What type of carb. does it have? fuel injection, carb., or throttle body? Pull off a plug wire, and check it for spark....does ignition spark? Check timing for jumping. could have jumped timing belt? you need someone to help you visualize and troubleshoot.

1989 Firebird won't start unless gasoline is sprayed in throttle.

your electronic fuel injectors should have a similar connector as another make sure you didn't connect the wrong piece to you electronic fuel injection wires, the connection should be a 2 hole plug and should run from the coil to the intake
