I have a Ford five hundred 2006 SE. I got since july 1st a problem with the voltage of my car. I change the alternator and the PCM and the trouble still there. My Voltage varie from 12v and gradually get to 14.5V in 7 seconds. As soon it's hit 14.5V the voltage drop (like a ground) to 12v and run on the battery. I need to keep my battery full every single time I park the car or in 2 days the batt go dead. Any solution? Battery , alternator and PCM are check and working great.

SOURCE: electrical

If you have a volt meter check to see if there is a drain on the battery when the car is off, you can then pull each fuse to see which circuit is causing the draining. Sounds easy, but I have also seen cases where somone left change (a penny) in the cigarette lighter causing a short cirucit.

SOURCE: Battery not keeping charge after alternator changed out..

If you have a voltage regulator than yes this could very well be the problem however I dont think your truck has one. Normally when this thing happens you check the diode in the alternator but you said you replaced the alternator so well assume that is not the problem. Next with the engine off and all electrical acc off. Loosen the positive cable on your battery take the cable off and watch for a spark between the cable and the battery, if there is a spark that means you have juice being drawn from your battery look for a short in your wiring.

Ford five hundred voltage regulator

cc738b50-5ca1-438b-b94a-d5ee1a50f74b.jpgYou are correct as far as a voltage regulator being located inside the alternator. No there isn't a seperate one for the computer and 2 of the wires going to the alternator go directly to the connector of the PCM. Not sure of you problem but am guessing you are having a charging problem. have you checked the fuse for the charging system ? If not it is in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle. In the fuse layout I have provided I have marked the fuse you will want to check. If you have a good fuse, have had the alternator bench tested and it tested out good, there is also 2 fuseable links in the wiring for the alternator. One of thos could be blown. You could have a wiring problem and the computer itself could be faulty but that's not very common.

Ford Five Hundred head lights and dash lights are flashing.

I would check battery voltage with a meter when the lights are flashing to check alternator output. Might be a ground problem.

Hi, to check the alternator, check the voltage with the engine running and the jumper cables removed. If the voltage is less than 14 VDC with the engine running, remove the alternator and have it tested at your local chain store.

Electric cooling fan on ford five hundred not

Check the fuse for the fan and you could test to see if you have a voltage running to the fan when the car starts to overheat. If you have no power to the fan then trace the wore and see if you cant find the problem. If you have power then the fan motor is most likely bad.
