2003 mitsubishi galant es 4cylheater blowing nothing but cold air

I turned my hot/cold switch the other day to the cold setting because it was warm.... and then when i turned it back, its blowing nothing but regular air.... not air conditioned air because it the cold air conditioner setting was not pushed in. Is there something specific that would be the problem? how much would that cost to fix?
If you have any questions, please ask!
thank you in advance for your help!

Same situation!! Also noticed that the 5-second rattle which usually occurs when I switch from hot-cold or cold-hot has stopped...with the loss of heat.

yes, my problem was the same as Bob, that 5 second rattle stopped as well. I will try the heater control cable fix. Thank you norm! i will let you know if that fixed my problem.

I thought my '03 Galant was the only one that did the 5 second rattle when switching between hot and cold air! This is incredible! I went a whole year without hot air (this went with the sad rattle stopping), then after a 10 hour road trip, wouldn't you know it but my heater started working again! It worked for a whole year before it died on me again today along with the sad rattle. Looking for fix its before my 15 hour road trip later this week. Thanks for the tips!

This may be a solution:
I had a similar problem at the beginning of this winter.
My heater was blowing cold air.

My solution:
Heater Temperature control cable, about $10 from dealer
Install, about $70, at my local Firestone

My 2003 galant had the same issue.
My mechanic was hoping it was just the Heater Temp. Control cable, but I ended up needing a new thermostat. Apparently it's a fairly common problem with this model.

No heat or cold air will come out of my2004 Mitsubishi Galant. I took off the dash panel behind the glove box to get to the Blend Door Motor, but after turning the air from hot to cold at various speeds,...

Does the air blows through the dash board vents. Does the selector is functional, that means you can force the air stream through wind shield, or vents or down to the legs. If these things are OKthen check CONTROL PANEL.
Remove the trim plate surrounding the center instrument panel. Detach the electrical connectors and remove the control panel.

When I turn on the heating system of the car not work is not sending hot air inside the car.

You don't say if the fan is working. If not, check the fuse. If the fuse is okay, check the switch and fan motor to be certain they are okay. If the fan is working, and still no heat (blows cold air), there is something blocking hot water from getting to the heater core. I hope this gives you some help to isolate where your problem is.

I HAVE EXACTLY THWE SAME SITUATION LISTED IN THE DETAILS/

A thermostat that is stuck open will cause there to be no heat. If its closed is when you will run hot or overheat.

Overheating and heater blowing cold air.

Heres the answer for the clicking sound

I had the exact same problem, yes it was the heater control valve, the repair was 285.00. The tech that replaced it told me it is a common problem for the Galant. He said that if you keep your temp selector on either all hot or all cold that it keeps constant pressure on the plastic gear teeth in the valve. As they break off one by one you begin to hear that clicking noise as the dont catch. When you finally break off the last one it stops working.

According to him if you always leave the dial at least one notch from fully hot or fully cold you will not experience a failure of the switch

Heater not dispersing hot air

There ia an actuator that controls the flap to change from hot to cold. You have to pull the bottom part of the dash and the whole blower motor housing. The part you are looking for is located just behind the radio and has an arm that goes into the heater core line. That is the piece you need. Its around $165 dollars and a dealer only part. And hope you have someone that can do it because mitsubishi charges over $500 in labor.

2003 mitsubishi galant es ac/fan problem

sounds like the fan controller switch in the panel has gone nutty. I would take the car to the dealer and let them diagnose the issue, they are best when it comes to knowing your car the most and in diagnosing problems with them better than just a regular joe blow shop that works on everything and doesn't specialize in any particular issue.
