1999 Mercedes Benz ML 430 periodically stalls at idle

Normally the car will restart with turn of the key but occasionally it will take 3-4 tries before engine will start. There is no warning of any kind. It justs stalls. It can work well for 2-3 weeks with no problems. Car runs well otherwise, and it has 292,000 klms

    I have a 2001 MB C320 that will loose power and stall. After a few minutes it will start and continue operating only to repeat the same sequence. The problem remains unsolved after three MB certified system diagnotic scans.

Hi, Joe here The problem sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. The sensor is located on the transmission bell housing on the left side. Can be accessed threw the top of the engine near the firewall.

Hello. A 'fan clutch holding tool', a 'metric' set of sockets, extensions and a socket wrench are all that is needed to remove/replace your car's water pump. A 'flathead' screwdriver and pliers are needed to remove the fan shroud and ductwork. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

For an engine to run you need 3 things for this to happen:

1) fuel
2) spark
3) air

you confirmed 2 things so the only one missing is air!

If you mean the bulb its on the back side of the lamp under the hood area. Unplug, the release the tab/spring clip to replace bulb.

Crank position sensors are known issues on the ML. It will not throw a code. It is plastic and cracks and when it faults car will stall.

Drivers electric window switch broken . The window is open can i close it any other way it is a 1999 ml 430 t reg cheers
No, that is the master switch that control all the other doors and locks. try putting the key in the drivers dr and hold it back in the lock possition for about ten seconds and if the window dose not close then you need to replace the master switch.

Stalling occassionally
Wait Bill before you order anything ok. What exactly is the vehicle doing? Stalling ok. does it restart right away? Is there a check engine light on. The ML has had a fuel filter modication . The new fuel filter is larger. If you have the old style small one you will need to do the Modifications. 3 lines and a tie wrap and possibly the fuel pump . Do you really want to just start replacing things?
