The airbag light won't turn off on my 2003 Jetta

The airbag light stays on in my 2003 jetta tdi. please help me fix it asap. I've checked the connections underneath the seats and I've disconnected the battery to try to reset the computer too.

disconnecting the battery will not erase faults in the air bag system, and i recommend not touching anything to do with the air bag system. I recommend going to a VW dealer to check on this. They can scan for fault codes and should give you a direction of repair. If you are not a licenced technician, please don't touch any air bag related parts.

The front seat buckles have a micro switch in them, you may have to split the plastic off to get t it and then check the wires are not broken and if ok then use electronic contact cleaner and hope it works for you if not the dealer would be glad to sell you the whole assembly

2003 VW Jetta air bag light and ABS light stays on

no it wont. in order for the air bag light to go off you must get a VW air bag resetter. they sell for about 45 bucks. it will reset the light and crash data. since your airbag light is on the airbags are locked up. once reset they will work again. anymore questions give me an email... 2001 VW Jetta air bag on and honk won't work.

It's your clockspring. It's inside your steering wheel, underneath the airbag. Controls the electrical connection to your airbag and horn.

Hope this helps!

2000 Jetta Airbag warning light came one

If the light is on, there's a fault stored in the computer. You have to get the trouble code to know what's going on. No way to guess your way out of this. Read this post on airbag lights

Dash lights on and clock resets. 2003 Jetta

To fix the clock and the odometer I just had to make sure there was a fuse in both places 11 and 15. I have a standard trans and one place I thought was for auto trans instrument panel lights. But both must be there. The engine check light also went off but the airbag light is still on. I was wanting to avoid going to the dealer, but I might have to so they can reset that.

Constant light on dashboard

My '01 TDI had the same issue and apparently it was a switch gone bad behind the horn and airbag. . . so no idea if the airbag would have worked had I been in an accident. Definately worth going to VW and having it looked at though. Better safe than sorry.
