Sounds like your truck has been put in "limp" mode.
In order to protect the engine, in case of an equipment failure, the engine computer will limit the performance of your vehicle until the problem is resolved. The first step is to figure out what code caused your check light to come on. There are testers to do this, or there may be another way, so check your owners manual. You need an OBD2 checker.
I am assuming you have a 4 cylinder engine. P1253 usually indicates a problem with the VTEC solenoid, connector, or wiring. I would recommend clearing the fault. After getting the fault cleared, in a safe area, accelerate the car in low gear to at least 4000rpm for 2-3 seconds. If the fault does not come back, then repeat the drive test a few more times. Assuming the fault does not return, the problem is intermittent.
it is possibly the throttle position sensor(tps) malfunctioning. basically the computer or "brain" of the car thinks the throttle is in a different position than it really is and automatically makes adjustments to fuel, air ect.... based on these false readings from the sensor thus causing the engine to react a little different when you expect to have power.
yes, fist check the battery make sure your getting 12v, check the alternator, that your problem right now. also check al fuse and reley for proper operation.
