For the second time in two years my bose cd player isn't working and giving an error message. of course this time my warranty can not help, it ended about a year ago. i've talked to an auto cd installer and they said that only the dealership could fix or install a new one. he said these bose systems are very complex and break often. i really just want to get a new cd changer (of another brand) installed. but no one will do it because its too complex to get to. they only say that they would have to take out the whole audio system ( speakers, radio, every wire from front to back), which would cost in the four digits. Help!
Had to replace same unit twice in 2004 G35. Seems to be a bad model. Sometimes a dirty disk(s) will cause operation problems so make sure all disks are sqeaky clean, and if they are in unit for more than a month, remove, clean and reinstall. Use plain water and a soft cotton rag for dust, but windex for grease/oil/candy etc. Also vacuum unit face opening when cleaning interior.

03 and 04 G35 vehicles had a Technical Service Bulletin issued regarding the audio circuit board. No sound was one of the symptoms of a faulty circuit board. There was a design flaw with the boards on the early model G35's that was corrected in 05.The audio units on those cars consisted of three pieces, the radio itself, which is just a silver box, a circuit board that attaches to the front of the radio and then the outer display. I would suggest contacting a dealership service dept. with your VIN number in hand, and ask if the circuit board has been replaced. Even if it has, It will still more than likely be the problem. It's either that or the radio
