Re: how to remove interrior door panel pontiac G6 and...
Remove any bolts/screws you can see then get a plastic crowbar and pry it off. Should have little plastic push pins holding it to door. Make sure you remove all screws though.

1) Remove the plug inside the interior armrest and remove phillips
screw.
2) Remove armrest and two screws that hold door panel to door frame.
3) Pop the outer cover off the interior door handle.
4) Remove the interior
lock knob and remove door panel by popping out tabs connected to door frame and lifting up off of window ledge.
5) Remove the two nuts
holding exterior handle in place.
6) Disconnect the L shaped linkage from
the handle. The trick to getting the L shaped linkage into the
new handle is to feed L shaped metal pole through hole in door where
exterior handle was, leaving the lower end of this linkage in its slot.
7) Feed the end of L shaped pole through the plastic 'hinge' in new
handle by folding the hinge over and pushing the end of the L through
both sides of the plastic hinge at once. slide the lower loop of the
plastic hinge down the L shaped pole to secure pole to handle.
8) Place new
handle into door and reverse the process to reinstall interior panel.
There are a series of rods that connect the interior door handle to the actual latch of the door. You are going to have to remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the interior handle all the way to the latch. (Located at the end of the door opposite of the hinge).
Yeah, you have to remove the lock. Use an impact drill with the right phillips head to remove the screws. if you try to take them out with a screw driver, you will strip them. Remember...impact drill.
Sounds like either a linkage rod came off or the interior handle is broken. either way you have to take the interrior door panal off to see which it is.
On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel
and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and
disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door
Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.
