Must be flashed. This is your security system. Check other GM dealers for better price.

SOURCE: Replaced ignition switch on Saturn, won't recognize new switch.

1. Try an online auto computer rebuilder. The problem is the Eprom is set to a specific number for the switch. The number of the new switch has to reprogrammed. The only other work around is to obtain a matching computer and switch. If the individual chip is not soldered in you could send it out to be flashed mail order.

SOURCE: i have a 2001 saturn

Hi! Does it even crank? I strongly suggest that you replace the ignition coil as a first course of action. If it's worn you'll have a no start result. Good luck on this. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Were is the ignition switch on a 2003 saturn ion

The Ignition starter switch is located directly to the rear of the ignition lock cylinder and it is directly actuated by the lock cylinder. You must remove the outer covers of the column to replace it. Below is a picture of the switch. Use the OEM part as it is far better than aftermarket parts and about the same price.

How do you replace an ignition switch on a 1998 Saturn SL

You know I just had a chevy dealer tell me they could replace the lock cylinder and ignition switch in my girlfriend's 99SW for 88 dollars in half a day. 3 months later they had changed the lock cylinder and it cost 155 dollars. they had to send it out to saturn to get the keys to match, and they told me that the steering column would have to come out in order to replace the switch as it is put in with tamper proof hardware which needs to be drilled out. as yet it is not done.

You put the key into the lock cylinder, the lock cylinder is directly attached to the ignition switch. Both are inside the plastic boot around steering column.
