SOURCE: jeep wount start

When you turn the key on all the lights come on normally? and when you try to start you lose the lights and hear a click? If so the battery cables are loose, or broken. If thats not the case it could be a relay or stuck starter or switch. You can try a screwdriver at the starter hit the little wire and the big wire it will spark and should turn the engine over "MAKE SURE IT IS IN PARK WITH THE BRAKE SET" do this last, if you do all that and it turns over you can say the starter and cables are good. Next replace relay and try, still nothing get a new switch. Hope this helps.

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

1997 toyota Rav4 2L will not turn over or start, no clicking sound when turning the key! battery and wires are good and ignition relay switch has been replaced, lights and radio work

Did you check for power going to the starter. could be a connection on that side of things. should be able to pull starter and jump batt to it to see if gear pops out and spins.

This 30 amp fuse, If it blows when cranking, it is usually the starter dragging, if it blows by just turning the key on it is usually the fuel pump drawing too many amps.
I hope this helps.

I replaced my battery in my 2002 nissan maxima now it wont start, wont even turn over, just a click sound. The day before new batter cleaned the ternimals on old battery and jumped it and it started fine....

Wiggle the bsattery terminals while someone else is trying to start car and see if that works. if not have some try to tsrat car as you bang on the starter which is directly to the left of the air box and down. you can use a tire iron or a hammer with a long metal object to bang on.

I have a 2001 IS 300 with 160,000 mi. I was having trouble starting the car in the morning where it would take 2 or 3 tries to get it to turn over. It is in a garage in California, so not in extreme cold....

try if this works\improves your situation;

turn the key to ON but don't crank, let it sit for 2 seconds. Do this 2-3 times, then put it in the ON position, wait 2 seconds then crank. As for what it is, could be spark plugs, fuel pump\line issue, etc..

if you turn headlights on and turn key to start do you hear clicking? if so starter is possibly bad,lets trouble shoot your problem.suggest you check the fuses under hood in black box,make sure those are good. when you turn the key, you should hear at least a click or else the starter is not drawing current.try turning the headlights on and at same time turn the key and try to start, if lights go dim the starter is drawing current, does it click? if so then bad starter. if no noise at all,,still could be a bad starter.suggest that you remove the starter and have it checked out.also make sure the car is in park for sure before you do any of this. hope this helps!!

2004 A 8L won"t start

starter wont click because there's not enough "juice" to turn it over. this isnt because of the battery as you have just replaced it. it is due to a bad alternator recharging the battery as you drive. if it were only a fuse it would be the solenoid in the starter. but if it had started after you installed the battery then its not the solenoid. solution: buy a refurbished alternator and
