I can not locate the transmission filter on my liberty. The one that it calls for is a spinon filter, so it should not be that hard to locate. But it seems that I am overlooking it.
According to my parts manuals for your jeep the trans filter is inside the transmission, u will need to pull the pan off to change it. Here is a picture.

Check fuse and relay as mentions in the link. Also the BCM is involved with climate control in which case you will need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer.
The 2006 Liberty does not have one. You can add one if you want though... On the Jeep forum Jeep Jeepster said: "Correct, the liberty doesnt have one. I added a filter media to help filter out dust":
