GM 3800 Series II V-6 Engine needed for my 1998 Olds Intrigue

CLEAN, LOW MILES GM 3800 Series II V-6 Engine needed for my 1998 Olds Intrigue. (Has to be affordable-I was laid off three weeks ago from my job)

I live in Fremont, CA 94539

Does anyone know of websites or people, places where I could find what I am looking for at a really affordable price?

I need to get my car running so that I can have it to look for work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU!

SOURCE: need to drain coolant from 1998 Olds Intrigue.

COOLANT CHANGEON THE RADIATOR (LOWER DRIVERS SIDE FACING THE MOTOR) THERE IS A PLASTIC LIKE PLUG THAT YOU TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE ABOUT 3/4 OF A TURN, THEN YOU CAN PULL IT OUT ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH THIS WILL DRAIN THE RADIATOR, THEN YOU CAN PUSH THE PLUG BACK IN AND TURN IT UNTIL YOU FEEL IT LOCK BACK IN PLACE. REFILL RADIATOR WITH 3 PARTS COOLANT TO 1 PART WATER.
1998-'99 Intrigues equipped with the 3800 engine have a specific process for replacing antifreeze. It is somewhat of a lengthy process and you should refer to your owners manual for doing this. After you empty and flush your system with water (garden hose), only fill the system with green 50/50 antifreeze, NOT Dex-Cool. Avoid Dex-Cool. If you bring your Intrigue to a shop to get serviced, make sure and inform whoever doing repairs and/or leave a note (clearly visible) to NOT use Dex-Cool if they're doing any work pertaining to cooling system.

I don't have a diagram of where the starter is located but's easy to find. It's located above the frame between the radiator and the engine block. its bolted to the engine block just above the frame. It has two bolts holding iit in place. You will need a 15mm socket and extension to remove the bolts. There is a 13 mm nut that holds the battery cable to the starter. Than there is a smaller wire that is held into place with an8mm nut. There is also a plastic cover that is attached to the transmission that can be removed with a 10mm socket. Infact you will have to remove this cover first before trying to remove the 15mm bolts. oh yeah make sure you jack the car up so you can see everything from underneath. use jack stands.

SOURCE: can i put a transmission from a 87 olds delta 88

No as it will not comunicate with the ecm resulting in poor engine performance. The 87 tranny is not electronically controlled and the 96 is. Do not attempt this transplant as it will be a waste of money and time

First you need to do is get the trouble code out of the computer this will get you in the right area of the problem then you can trouble shoot it.Sounds like it could be a EGR valve stuck in the open position.

I am fixing to change spark plugs in my 1998 OLDS Intrigue, it has a "3800 series 2" motor in it. The front plugs doesn't look like much of a problem, but the back ones look like they may be pretty hard to...

yes it would be alot easier that way but if you can't do that you can get them out with just enough room with a 3" extention and a swivel head ratchet . i do them all the time. will get cut up a little bit but not to bad. the front like you said is a breeze.

if you have any more question please ask

1998 olds intrigue sometimes wont start

Have the crankshaft sensor replaced. This is a very common problem on this engine and it's a job best done at a shop because you need a special puller to get the crankshaft pulley off.

Speedometer

Check and or replace your speed sensor if that does not work replace the instrument cluster - you can find one at almost any salvage yard.
