  5. Press the locking lug against the connector (3 – arrow) and pull it off.

  2. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:
    • Before installing door trim, check all clips and replace as necessary, and insert into mounts of door trim.
    • After connecting battery, check that the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) is operating properly.
    • If the Electronic Control Module (ECM) is subject to low voltage with ignition on, DTC memory and Readiness code must be checked with a scan tool.

SOURCE: 1999 passat v-6 abs,brake lite come on,oil lite

A friend of mine has a VW Sharan V6 that done almost the same things and it was the electric water pump on the front bottom right of the engine that seezed up( yours is most likely doing the same), it's a black cylindrical sausage shape but a little thicker in size. The water leeks into the motor when it seezes and causes a intermittent short circut.

I have 1997 Jetta all brake lights quit working. Fuses are good bulbs look good and brake light switch looks ok could a bulb be bad and cause all three to go out?

I'd want to check voltage and ground for the stop lamps. Use a test light.
In the diagram for brake switch, the top wire is voltage, hot all the time, use a test lite to check for voltage, that circuit is fuse protected.
The lower wire in the picture goes hot when brake switch is activated and carries voltage to lamps. Like I said, the lamps need voltage and ground.

Abs light on in 2000 Alero 3.4

check fuses..If the fuse blows the light comes on and the ABS system is not working..Or possible the abs motor is shot. In any rate it is a good idea to look into it as soon as possible. You ABS system is not working. You still have brakes but the anti lock system that prevents skids will not work

2003 jetta. EPC lite is on. brake lites do not work. cruise does not work.

Check all your ground points. The brake lights and cruise may be grounded to the same spot. Re-check the cruise fuse and brake/tail light fuses.

Click on the link.
I can only help by telling you to check voltage and ground circuits. You check voltage by using a test lite, see the fuse in diagram, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage.
To check ground, you can still use the test lite, one end comes from voltage, the other end you touch to ground wire, the actual wire not the insulation, if the lite comes on, at least you know the ground is good enough to turn on the lite.
You can see voltage wire color coming from fuse. The ground wire not in the picture, black with yellow tracer.
on the hinge side of driver door is usually a wiring harness going into the driver door, probably has a protective covering, move cover back far enough to find the wire colors you want to check.
You open/shut driver door so much, sometimes those wires may break?

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra. Brake Light and ABS warning light comes on frequently. Sometimes it's there othertimes not. Have replaced the sensors, replaced rotors and pads, cleaned gound on the frame...

I would recommend checking for diagnostic trouble codes in the ABS system. If there is a diagnostic code C0265 set, then you're most likely looking at an ABS computer replacement. This is a common failure on these trucks. GM calls this computer an EBCM, or Electronic Brake Control Module. This is the controller for antilock brakes and is mounted directly to the ABS pump motor assembly. Last time i checked, these things were going for about $900 at the dealer.

Looking for the fuse box for lights on a VW Jetta

all the fuses on an mk3 vw such as yours, are under the dash on the drivers side. they are kind of a pain to get to, but if you look under the steering wheel, above the gas and brake pedals, there is a little door that opens, the door has a diagram showing which fuses are which. usually the fuses dont go though, have you checked the bulbs?

Anti lock brake system

Good Day,

That's usually caused by a bad abs sensor and/or wheel bearing. The quick fix is to locate the fuse box, on that it should be on left side of the dash, only accesable with the driver's door open. Locate the fuse for ABS and remove it, ABS is now disabled, this will trip the ABS light on the dash, also keep in mind you will lock your brakes under heavy braking conditions.

Hope this helps
