What kind of vehicle? How many miles on it? If it is over 120,000 miles, yes there is a good chance that the front wheel bearings are making noise especially if you have not done a brake job in all of that ime and greased the bearings. It could also be a loose brake pad on the front disk.

Wheel bearings don't hum. How about a traction control or anti break lock system malfunction? Or maybe something in your powersteering system

SOURCE: noise in front end, sounds

You say the rear wheel axles and bearings have been replaced, you mention nothing of the front wheels, you have the symptoms of a front wheel bearing being worn out, remove them and check for pitting in the bearing rollers or the bearing races, I am sure you will find a problem. Hope this helps solve your issue with the bearing noise.

SOURCE: Grinding noise in the left

grinding on front wheel is caused by 2 things. a bad or loose wheel bearing,or worn out brakes, have them both checked
You might also want to check the level of fluid in the power steering reservoir - low or lack of fluid will also cause a noise (although more of a whining than a grinding).

SOURCE: My car makes a bad growling noise. Everyone said

WHEEL BEARING USUALLY STARTS MAKING A ROARING TYPE NOISE WHICH USUALLY GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU DRIVE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE LOOSE , TO CHECK JACK UP THAT WHEEL AND GRAB TOP AND BOTTOM OF TIRE AND SHAKE, IF THERE IS MOVEMENT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE TO ROCK TIRE FOR YPU AND WATCH WHERE AXLE GOES INTO CENTER OF BEARING AND SEE IF AXLE IS MOVING WITH TIRE MOVEMENT AND SPINDLE REMAINS STATIONARY, THEN IT IS BAD BEARING, OR SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT, THEN BLOCK REAR WHEELS AND RUN CAR WITH THAT WHEEL IN AIR AND SEE IF YOU HEAR NOISE, GOOD LUCK.

What is the huming noise comeing from the front of my avenger while driving down the road.

Tires out of alignment can make a humming noise but so can a water pump or alternator before it goes out. A parts store can hook up to your car and test the alternator quickly and eliminate that.

Noise coming from front end while moving. the faster you go, the loader it gets. growling noise. how to check front wheel brgs, and cv joints

This sounds very familra, the problem sounds like a bad wheel bearing, the hard part is locating the bad one, you will need to drive it and try to locate if its in the front or rear. the most common is the front, you can try and jack up the front of the car with both front wheels off the ground and grab each wheel top and bottom and see if there are loose when you try to move it, sometimes a bad wheel bearing wheel have looseness to it and sometimes not. if the wheel is not loose then the next step would be to run the front wheels in drive wheels off the ground and listen for the loud wheel and that will be the bad one, to replace it you will need to remove the wheel then the brake caliper and the rotor. next locate the three bolts in the rear and remove them, next remove the center axle nut on the front of the wheel for the axle. next unplug connector to abs if car has abs, next hammer hub off spindle, it may be frozen on so beat the top and bottom to free it, then remove it and install new one. heres a few diagram to help you out, hope this is helpful, good day.johnjohn2_98.jpg

Humming noise passengers side front end goes away when turning left

sounds like a wheel bearing in your right front. apparently, there are different types of bearing setups for this vehicle, depending on wheter it's 2 or 4 wheel drive. when you are turning, you unload the faulty bearing partially, and the noise quiets down. bet it gets noisier when you turn the other way. the noise probably also changes pitch with vehicle speed. get it checked, as this can cause more serious damage, and left alone for too long can allow the wheel to come off completely!

Roaring noise in front wheels on 1999 Mercury Cougar, sounds like tires. I purchased a new set of tires and still have noise. Noise is while driving and turning left, quiet when turn right.

That description indicates wheel bearings, replace all 4 in the front end of your cougar.
I suspect that the right front bearings have failed in the STATIONARY race, at the top of the bearing.

How to check front bearings on 2000 kia sportage

hi there, there are two ways to check your bearings, 1, is to jack up the vehicle so the wheel is free of the ground and to check for any play or roughness in the bearing by spinning the wheel, if the bearing is worn then you will hear a droning noise, 2 is to drive along a quiet road, at a speed where you can hear the noise, gently turn the steering from left to right so the vehile load is being shifted from one side to the other, if you have a wheel bearing fault the noise's pitch will alter, hope this helps
