Sounds to be your fuel pressure regulator

hey
in most cases the reason it's of two things. either your catalytic converter is plugged or you are losing fuel either from a plugged filter or a bad fuel pump. wouldn't be a bad idea to check the air filter also.

It could be that your fuel pump is not getting enough fuel to the engine to start it. Is your starter turning over or trying to start the engine.

SOURCE: I have a 1996 GMC K1500 with the 5.7L vortec that

my experiance has been to find a cracked ignition coil, to check this you need a hande triggered spray bottle with water, open the hood and locate the coil start the engine and spray the coil down with a mist look and listen for an electrical arch or if the truck simply shuts off replace the coil and be carefull(its never happened to me) you dont get shocked

SOURCE: Car has been sitting; will turn over but won't

My first thought is to check the fuel pump operation.
Check to see if fuel pump is getting power.

This is how I check the pump.

Usually there is an in-line fuel filter that can be removed.
While its removed...bump the starter to see if gas shoots out the gas line.
If not, there might be a clog at the pump...or the pump needs replacing.

Hope this helps...

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Car won't start 2003 Dodge Stratus sxt coupe cranks but won't start what could b the problem? I tried spraying starting fluid in the air system but it still won't start!

i would check and see if spark pluges are firing. you can take one out and plug into spark plug wire then let the bottom of the plug sit on engine and get someone to try to start while you look at the plug to see if there is any fire. if you have no fire or fuel it would be the crankshaft sencer. it could be the timing belt but the motor would sound different turning over then it used to.

Car cranks but won't start, battery ok all systems seem to be ok any ideas?

Try having someone check to see if the fuel pump has stopped working. I suddenly developed the same problem as yours three days ago, and that's what heppened to mine. They go without warning or prior symptoms, it seems.

The colt won,t start when cold if it is plugged in for a half hour or more it starts fine.We have changed the two temperature sensors and checked the fuel pressure

ON A 92 MODEL CAR IT DOESN'T HAVE A CHOKE SO YOU ARE GOING THE RIGHT WAY BY LOOKING AT THE TEMP SENSOR. THE CHOKE ON A FUEL INJECTION MOTOR WORK THROUGH FUEL TRIMS. IN OTHER WORDS MORE FUEL THEN AIR THAT WOULD BE A RICH CONDITION THATS CHOKING THE CAR. SO IF YOU HAVE CHANGED THE TEMP SENSOR TO THE COMPUTER YOU MUST CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS WORKING RIGHT, TO DO THAT PLUG A COMPUTER IN AND READ DATA,IT SHOULD READ AT COLD START UP OUTSIDE TEMP.ONE MORE THING MAKE SURE THE VOLTAGE IS GOOD ON VEH BECAUSE IT TAKES LESS VOLTAGE WARM THEN COLD.AND IT WILL TURN OVER FASTER WARM. IF SO REPLACE THE BATTERY TO A HIGHER COLD CRANKING AMP BATTERY. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU TIM

Check engine light wont turn off and starts hard when cold

YOU WILL NEED TO FIND A SHOP OR SOMONE THAT HAS DIOGNOSTIC SCANNER FOR AN OBD1 SYSTEM OR AN OLD HAND HELD READER THAT FLASHES OUT A CODE TO TELL YOU WHAT MADE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO HAVE ACCESS TO A WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT THE CODE IS IF YOU USE AN OLD STYLE FLASH READER SOME SHOPS STILL HAVE CODE BOOKS THAT GO BACK THAT FAR ,EXAMPLE LIKE BACK TO 1989 YEAR MODEL AND OLDER ,BECAUSE IN 1996 THEY CHANGED OVER TO OBD2, AND THEY ARE ALOT EASIER TO GET CHECKED OUT ,MOST AUTO ZONE STORES WILL READ THE CODES FOR FREE ON OBD2 SYSTEM CARS,& SOME STORES HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO CHECK ANY YEAR MODEL WITH A DIOGNOSTIC PORT PLUG ,AND AS FAR AS I KNOW ALL STORES DO IT FOR FREE ,I KNOW THEY WILL DO THEM FREE ON OBD2, & CAN SYSTEMS.
