Sounds to me that your transmission is put itself into what is call (Limp Mode). This happens when the transmission fluid in the trans hydraulic valve body located on the bottom and in the trans pan are not within the parameters of the transmission computer. You can remove the trans pan and gasket to check for metallic material in the bottom of the pan. There is normally a strong magnet in the pan catch the material so I can't move freely through the transmission itself. It only takes a very small piece of foreign material to stop the flow of the valve body fluid. I would first take it to somewhere that had a automotive diagnostic scan tool that can read transmission codes to see if there are any active codes. Next you can drop the transmission pan yourself and look for material in it. Basically do a visually inspection and service the transmission fluid, gasket, and filter. Remember, all a automatic transmission is a extremely complicated fluid pump. If its pumping trans fluid properly it's probably working just fine. Been when the trans fluid gets hot, scorched, and stops moving. It will not work. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Out of nowhere 1998 Isuzu

This is caused by one of two things, the most common is that the fluid is low, with the engine running chek the fluid level and add as needed, if the fluid is full then i would say the ****** needs rebuilding and this is costly but first check the fluid level, low fluid can cause damage to ****** due to lack of lubrication. good day,

SOURCE: I have an automatic Isuzu trooper 1996, it shifts wrong

You need to get the transmission serviced. Either the Filter is clogged or something has worn out and needs to be repaired.

SOURCE: 1994 isuzu trooper 3.2 dohc automatic will not

The 3rd clutch pack is very cheezy on this unit (4L30E). The 3 speed version of your trans was used in the Chevy Chevett back in the late 70's early 80's (GM's THM 180). Check the oil condition for a burnt smell. Other items to check are speed sensory, and the shift soleniod (I don't know what the codes translate to). Any issues with reverse? If you'll drop the pan of the trans you may find debris. In this case it very well may be internal damage (clutch pack for example). Don't bother with changing the filter or adding additives to solve this problem.<br /> RTB - ProBuilt

How do I fix isuzu 3.1 4jg2 intercooler automatic transmission?reverse is good but when shift to drive it will not change gear?

post #2 by you, on a 99 Diesel.
again posting to USA forum with non usa car, right?>
we dont have that diesel here. nor the matching trans, here.
that means no books, nor listings in Mitchells covering it. zero , nada.
why not be the first if millions to post country your car resides, (best is where bought new country)
our USA car has only the 3.5L 6ve1w engine. gas.
sorry,
now that trans, answering in pure blind generic mode.
1: check all fuses. first.
2: check fluid levels in the box, using correct method, in your book (oper, guide)
3: get the transmission filter changed, and full flush.
4: On usa cars we have OBD2 and can scan the PCM and see all Transmission errors, in your country if not a clue. but it can be scanned, i bet.
EOBD is Europe tool.

next time when posting in GREEN-go land post country first and make it a WIN/WIN=.

Transmission not engaging 3rd or 4th gear

The symptoms & mileage is enough to tell
you it is time for a rebuild

rebuilt the trans as soon as I got it,working okey

Cant shift in to 2nd gear but all other gears

Is it a Manual Transmission or Automatic? If it's a manual, it sounds like your syncro's are going out on your transmission for 2nd gear. You will probably need a rebuild or replacement.

CAR RUNS FINE BUT WHEN I DRIVE FASTER THEN 70 MPH THE CHECK TRANSNISSION LIGHT TURNS ON THE TRANS HAS A BANGING SOUND. IT GIVES A INCORRECT GEAR CODE. PLZ HELP

Don't drive faster than 70Mph! That is over 115 feet per second! Anyway, it's 4WD, correct? Check the fluids in the tranmission and transfer case. You transmission may need to be serviced. Limit your speed to 50-60 MPH and don't shift hard...with a lot of RPM's, when taking off and going through 1st 2nd and 3rd. Drive gently until you can have the transmission serviced.

Does the trany fluid smell burnt? Might want to have the trany flushed - torque converter too - and replace the filter in the trans. FYI you may know this but it is not recomended that overdrive be enabled when pulling a trailer - especially a heavily loaded one. Does your town have lots of hills - this is an added stain on the trany.
