I stopped at an intersection the car sounded fine. i took off fast stupidly to get past someone, when shifting from first to second i got slightly over the redline 200 rpm maybe and not for long i continued down the road maybe a quarter mile to my friend's apartment complex as soon as i slowed down and turned in i noticed my car making a slight noise, when i made the first turn it got a little louder. i parked in front of her house and noticed i could use some water in my reservoir, i filled it and most of it instantly went into my car, i decided to run down the street and check and get some oil, i didn't even make it out of her complex before it got too loud, my car died and needed a jump i finally got it jumped and it clicked or knocked very loud i was able to put it in gear and drive it forward and backward to park it and it didn't seem to misfire or drive wierd at all. i had a friend look at it and he says it's in the top of my engine but we couldn't figure out where we took the engine cover off and there wasn't any metal shavings or bits to worry me the sound gets less loud when i drive it for a second or pull out the spark plug wire near the left plug the sound seems it's coming from the cams or something on top but really i can't tell where it's very loud and sad please help
You have a blown motor
it will require a rebuild
redlining an engine is the best way to spend big dollars as you are about to find out
Advise Stop Driving Untill is Fixed.
There may be a few things you can do, to fix the knock before it gets worse.
The worst case is
If the knock is a deep sound and is loud, that indicates the rod bearings are worn out, and pretty soon the bearings will fail, and most likely the car will leave you stranded.

Your experiencing the same thing my 02 is experiencing- your crankshaft pulley is slipping on the crankshaft. It only does it under load, i.e. turning steering wheel(loads the power steering pump) running heater blower on high with headlights on (loading the alternator) or running the a/c with blower (loading the a/c compressor and alternator). Turning off all lights, blowers, ac, etc and allowing the car to idle should kill the slipping until loaded again. This problem is very serious and very expensive if your don't catch it early. It require repairs ranging from tightening the crank to pulley bolt, to replacing the pulley AND your crankshaft if it is allowed to continue. if you cannot get it serviced immediately then do your best to keep loads off of your belts by driving with the blower off, A/C off, and lights used only when necessary. Also try to avoid extreme tight turns which load your power steering pump. Your repair, if not done asap, will cost you upwards of around $3k since the motor must be removed and completely torn down to replace your crankshaft and pulley. I would seek a tech who will exhaust every other method- i.e. sleeving, welding, etc. to effect a repair. Just don't put it off because it will only get worse...

with the battery fully charged try scraping the positive over the terminal on the battery and see if it sparks like a draw is sucking out amps if theres no draw on the battery it wont spark at all (good) if it sparks (bad) you have something grounded and killing your battery.. gl

I think i have the same problem, i was at my sisters house for just a few minutes and came out and realized my lights were still on, we had to jump start my car even though it was only a few minutes... i left my sisters house and was driving down the road when i noticed a faint knocking sound, as i kept driving it got louder and louder. After shutting it off we had to stomp on the gas to get it started again, we took it to a garage and he said he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it,... but said it would be ok to drive b/c the knocking was either in the top or bottom, im not sure which, whichever is ok to drive with i guess, but then we were driving and it kinda lost power so we had it towed, we could still start it but stomping on the gas, but it still knocks very loudly and dont know what the issue is...
it was a spun lower end bearing i had my engine rebuilt
