I am working on a 1998 GMC Jimmy, the Resistor has failed however the Resistor pack on the vehicle has a smaller connection than the replacement resistor pack available. The current resistor pack has

The existing resistor pack was made by ITT Automotive. The resistor has a pigtail that plugs into the connector inside the right front fender. When I go to the parts store they show me a resistor RU1027 that doesn't have the pigtail and also has a 4 prong connector that is 1/2 larger than the plug available on the harness. There are two versions of the1998 production model, and certain parts can be incorrectly spec'ed by aftermarket manufacturers (I have run into this several times). The obvious solution is use the GM OEM part which can be identified by the truck VIN.

The blower resister on this model is mounted with two screws very near the blower motor. When it is unmounted, and pulled out of the blower box,it looks like a heat sink/plastic/alluminum .This part is cooled by the blower motor, and supplies the speeds for the fan that you select with the fan speed switch. If I caan help, let me know.>>[email protected]

Orifice tube location on a 1998 gmc jimmy

Follow the smaller diameter high side line till you see a spot where there are dimples pushed in. These are the stops for the orifice so it doesn't get pushed too far in. They are usually at the front where the line goes to the radiator/condenser area.
