Car has been hard to start lately, but drives fine once it's started. Now the car is bucking and acting crazy when I try to accelerate. It is fine at idle, and free rev's with no problem. It's only under load that this issue occurs, and if I put it in neutral or push the clutch in it shuts off. Has anyone else had this issue before? Any suggestions?
I had this problem after I washed the engine off. I got water in the cylinders and the plugs were shorting out. I got the engine hot on a hot day over 100 outside. I put the hood up facing into the sun and pulled the coils off the plugs. I had to do this a couple times and the car is good as new.

Being a retired dealer tech I can say for sure I never ever ripped anyone off ever!!!!!!!! if they say (dealer) they needed access then you did not understand what they had to do and decided they where putting it to you, you go ahead and throw parts at the problem, you may or may not get lucky, I wish you the best of luck, and you Jacko rubbed me the wrong way.

There was a recall related to this a few years ago. I know because my engine began shutting off on the interstate and other driving situations. You may be able to search for the recall or just take it in to a Honda dealership and tell them that you received a recall notice related to your ignition switch a while back and your car has been stalling out while driving. I believe a replacement of the ignition switch will fix your problem. I haven't had any problems since. The dealership shouldn't charge you anything for the repair.
SOURCE: stalls at idle
I had the same issue with the same car....turned out to be my Idle Air Control Valve. The mechanic cleaned it out and so far my car runs fine. Actually, a little better than before. It wound up costing me $88.00 for the mechanic and $45.00 for the tow. Hope this helps you out.
Oh by the way, it would've cost me $475.00 to get the part replaced...

I know exactly what you are talking about, it will go high to about 2 to 4k rpms, then back down to 1k in intervals of about 3 seconds. It is either the idle air position sensor, or the throttle body position sensor, hondas are famous for it. The parts are cheap, about $20-$30, and fairly easy to install when you find it. I suggest a Haynes Manual for installation to make it a lot easier if you don't know where it is. Good luck, hope all goes well.
