My compressor and clutch need to be replaced, it wrecked my serpentine belt. Can I somehow bypass the AC system so that I will have heat and defrost but no AC? 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS

Yep. Ask the parts people if there's a belt for your vehicle with ac delete. If not you'll have to measure the run without the ac pump. Use a string and wind it around the pulleys the same way the belt will run then measure the string. Should help you get close to the right length.

Can we fix the heater and defrost in a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS without the AC compressor

You may be able to remove compressor and purchase a pulley with an arm that atttaches to the block in place of compressor. Or remove compressor altogether and install a shorter serpentine belt. Hope this has been of some help.

My mechanic is telling me that it's necessary to replace the water pump on my 2002 Isuzu Rodeo when replacing the serpentine belt. Is this true? Ball park figure, how much would it be to replace both?

BS. Water pump should be replaced with the TIMING BELT. The serpentine belt doesnt even touch the water pump. If you have a V6 that is. but you didnt say what engine you have.
