Try this.

Engine stalls cold or RPM fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Turn the idle screw clockwise on top of throttle body. This will lower the idle and get rid of your up & down idle when you depress the brake.

SOURCE: The 1984 Toyota 4x4 pickup truck will not idle

On a 1984 Toyota I would look for a screw to set the low speed idle on the carburetor, if so equipped. Turn the screw until the RPMs are reasonable.

If you can maintain a smooth idle by adjusting the screw your home free.

If not, then there could be other problems with your vehicle's emission, ignition, comprression, or fuel.

I have a 1991 toyota pick up that won't start. I have spark the and it seems as the truck wants to start but i don't think its geting fuel. Fuel preasure is good. what should i check next?

An injector pulse tester is called a "noid light". You plug it into the injector connector, and, cranking, it should flash, or blink. Try it on each injector connector.Buy them from any parts store. Blinking light means you are getting power to the injectors. The igniter tells the computer when to ground the injector signal, so it will operate and spray fuel into your cylinder. goodluck.

My dakota won't idle when cold but idles fine when warm. it also skips in low rpms

YOU NEED NEW SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.REPLACE FUEL FILTER,CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS BY ADDING CAN OF SEAFOAM TO 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS SEE IF HELP PROBLEM.IF ENGINE STILL MISSES YOU COULD HAVE WEAK IGNITION COIL AND LOW CYLINDER COMPRESSION.

1991 eagle talon will crank, but won't start up. 2 days ago I was driving home from work when i turned around in a parking lot and went to my parents house. about a half an hour there i needed to move...

That sounds like the fuel pump may have lost it's prime. Does it have fuel injection, or a carburetor on the engine? How much gas was in the tank while it was parked on an incline? Have you tried any starting fluid sprayed into the air intake hose, toward the engine? Warning! Don't use much starting fluid! Perhaps a one or two second burst, and have someone crank it immediately after you have stepped back at least 6 feet from the engine. If it fires, then it is definitely a fuel delivery problem! But it won't run long like that unless the fuel pump starts working again ... which is most likely when the engine is cold!

My 1991 4cyl toyota pickup died while idleing. What are some suggestions on things to look at?

A diagnostic scan is always a good place to start, even if there is no check engine light on. Ignition...are you getting fire to the spark plugs? Fuel pressure, fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, air filter not restricted? Battery fully charged, terminals clean and tight? These are a few basics needed for proper engine mangement.
Good luck...hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.
