By unplugging the motor in the trunk i can reset it to close when it is closed to open, it or open when closed, if it gets stuck. What can i do to fix this operational proble.? There is a slowing down of the sunroof at times in the closing action. Is the motor wearing down or maybe the mechanism is gunked up?
Lubrication of the Sunroof in the 300E is a part of your regular service schedule. Mercedes Sells the correct lubrication grease.
See HERE for some semi-detailed instructions and places to get the grease and whatnot.
As usual when working with motorized devices, make sure to disconnect the fuse for the sunroof, or the battery from the car, to prevent injury and damage.

If you hear motor hum than it's probably a bad rail part. I have the same plastic rail part and both sides broke. Can't find a replacement anywhere.
SOURCE: My sunroof has opened and now it won't close. Any clues?
hi sounds like a faulty sunroof relay keeping the motor running it may well have blown the fuse or burned the motor out if you connected it back up and it doesn,t work at all but should be able to turn the sunroof back manually look on the sunroof motor there should be sometthing like a slot for a large screwdriver or a bolt head of sorts just wind it back and then check the relays and fuses if your switch is a electronic one make a make shift one and try [simple switch]on and off as this is delicate circiutery and the slightest short can destroy it best of luck yates210456

If the motor is stuck, you can probably hold the switch to the forward position, and smack the roof. This may allow the motor to start working. I don't think there is any way to do it manually.
SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.
The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM
