Fixing my sunroof in a merceds 300E

By unplugging the motor in the trunk i can reset it to close when it is closed to open, it or open when closed, if it gets stuck. What can i do to fix this operational proble.? There is a slowing down of the sunroof at times in the closing action. Is the motor wearing down or maybe the mechanism is gunked up?

Lubrication of the Sunroof in the 300E is a part of your regular service schedule. Mercedes Sells the correct lubrication grease.

See HERE for some semi-detailed instructions and places to get the grease and whatnot.

As usual when working with motorized devices, make sure to disconnect the fuse for the sunroof, or the battery from the car, to prevent injury and damage.

SOURCE: sunroof will not close

If you hear motor hum than it's probably a bad rail part. I have the same plastic rail part and both sides broke. Can't find a replacement anywhere.

SOURCE: My sunroof has opened and now it won't close. Any clues?

hi sounds like a faulty sunroof relay keeping the motor running it may well have blown the fuse or burned the motor out if you connected it back up and it doesn,t work at all but should be able to turn the sunroof back manually look on the sunroof motor there should be sometthing like a slot for a large screwdriver or a bolt head of sorts just wind it back and then check the relays and fuses if your switch is a electronic one make a make shift one and try [simple switch]on and off as this is delicate circiutery and the slightest short can destroy it best of luck yates210456

SOURCE: sunroof will not close

If the motor is stuck, you can probably hold the switch to the forward position, and smack the roof. This may allow the motor to start working. I don't think there is any way to do it manually.

SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.

The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM

Vauxhall Astra Twintop 2 door 2011 model. The sunroof won't open instead keeps beeping every time I try to open it. Can someone please help?

There could be a few reasons why your sunroof on your 2011 Vauxhall Astra Twintop 2 door is not opening and instead beeping when you try to open it. Some possible causes include:
  • The sunroof switch or control module may be faulty and not sending the correct signal to open the sunroof.
  • The sunroof motor may be malfunctioning and unable to open the sunroof.
  • The sunroof track or guide may be obstructed, preventing the sunroof from opening.
  • The sunroof may be locked in a closed position and unable to open.
To fix the issue with your sunroof, I recommend having a professional mechanic check your vehicle to determine the cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs.
Regarding the blind, I would recommend looking at the vehicle's manual.

Sunroof does not open. Fuse is ok and the shade operates normally.

Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ?????? How to read a wiring diagrams ???? http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html .Videos on youtube Ohms Law Tech Tip from L1 with Dave Hobbs Copy of Voltage Drop Essentials TST Motor Age The only way to find the problem , testing !

Sunroof Description and Operation (One Connector System)
Sunroof
This diagnostic procedure is to be used for the 1 connector Sunroof System that combines the sunroof control module with the sunroof motor/actuator.
The Sunroof System consists of the following components:
ā€¢ BATT MAIN 2 Fuse 50 A
ā€¢ Body control module (BCM)
ā€¢ RAP relay
ā€¢ S/Roof Fuse 20 A
ā€¢ Sunroof module (includes sunroof motor/actuator)
ā€¢ Sunroof switch
The Sunroof System is controlled by the sunroof switch and the sunroof motor/actuator assembly.
When the ignition is turned to RUN or ACCESSORY, or when the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active, the body control module (BCM) applies a ground to the RAP relay in the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block. This activates the RAP relay and allows battery positive voltage to be applied through the SUNROOF Fuse to the sunroof module. Ground for the sunroof module is supplied from G302.
The sunroof can be placed in 3 preset positions:
ā€¢ Open
ā€¢ Vent
ā€¢ Closed
When the sunroof switch is placed in the OPEN position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch open signal circuit. The sunroof motor/actuator then applies voltage to the sunroof motor open control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor close circuit. The sunroof motor then opens the sunroof to the full open position.
When the sunroof switch is placed in the VENT position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch open signal circuit. The sunroof module then applies voltage to the sunroof motor open control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor close circuit. The sunroof motor then opens the sunroof to the VENT position.
When the sunroof switch is placed and held in the CLOSED position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch close signal circuit. The sunroof module then applies voltage to the sunroof motor close control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor open circuit. The sunroof motor then closes the sunroof.
The sunroof can be placed in any preferred open position when:
ā€¢ The sunroof is in the fully opened position by pressing and holding the sunroof switch in the CLOSE position until the panel has reached the desired position then release the CLOSE switch in order to stop the sunroof
ā€¢ The sunroof is opening, it can be stopped by momentarily pressing either side of the switch.
The sunroof control module, sun roof actuator, and the sunroof motor are integral parts of the sunroof module assembly and are not service separately.

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop or buick dealer .

How do I fix the sunroof that wont close

Sounds like the timing is out. Pull the headliner down enough so that you can get to the motor. Close the sunroof and allow it to stop where it wants to. Then remove the bolts holding the motor on, pull the motor out of the way of the gears and push the sunroof closed. Then remount the motor. It should work correctly after that.

1987 300e sunroof. I can hear my sunroof trying to open but it doesn't move. How can I fix it or open it manually?

In the trunk, drivers side there is a white knob on the motor. Turn that for manual operation as long as the cable and guides are still intact. If not they must be replaced by dropping the headliner.

Moonroof wont close all the way

Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuit's with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? When adjusting the moon roof did you see any switches ? sunroof limit switch
Measure the reference voltage of the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit at the sunroof control harness connector to a good ground.
Does the reference voltage measure near the specified value?
4.5-5.5 V
Notice: Do not open the sunroof glass past the full open soft stop position. Doing so may damage the sunroof assembly and or the roof top.
Connect a jumper wire to the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit at the sunroof control module harness to a good ground.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Using the sunroof switch, operate the sunroof system, not to exceed the full open soft stop position.
Does the system operate as requested?

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Free one's here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year ,make ,model an engine size . Under system click body & accessories ,then under subsystem click on sun roof . Click the search button then the blue link . See the control module , motor an the two switches ? One is probably miss adjusted . or bad !

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
ā€¢ Sunroof control module
ā€¢ Sunroof motor with the limit switches
ā€¢ Sunroof switch
ā€¢ Sunroof glass-spoiler type, with glass sliding above roof
ā€¢ Sunshade
ā€¢ Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
ā€¢ Power sunroof system circuit breaker: PWR WDO 25 A
ā€¢ Ground: G204

Sunroof Limit Switches
The sunroof limit switches track the position of the sunroof glass through two limit switches:
ā€¢ Soft Stop limit switch through the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit
ā€¢ Vent Stop limit switch through the sunroof limit switch range signal circuit
The sunroof control module monitors the limit switches and based on the input combinations, determines the position of the sunroof glass. As a sunroof limit switch closes, the 5 volt reference will be shorted to the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit, pulling the 5 volt reference to 0 volts.
The sunroof control module monitors both sunroof switch input requests and based on the sunroof limit switch input combinations, will control an output to the sunroof motor, to drive the sunroof glass to the requested position.

Sunroof Motor
The sunroof has a bi-directional motor. When the motor is not operating both circuits are grounded. When the motor drives the sunroof glass in the direction from the closed to vent or vent to open position, the following occurs:
ā€¢ Voltage is supplied to the sunroof motor open circuit.
ā€¢ Ground is maintained to the sunroof motor close circuit.
When the motor drives the sunroof in the direction from the open to vent or vent to closed position, the following occurs:
ā€¢ Voltage is supplied to the sunroof motor close circuit.
ā€¢ Ground is maintained to the sunroof motor open circuit.
The sunroof control module is equipped with a timer circuit which stops the operation of the sunroof motor after 8 seconds.

Sunroof will not close think cable or chain broke? How do you get at it to fix it. I can hear the electric motor clicking.?

This can be really tricky to get at if you want it done properly and neatly. You'd have to remove all the trim on the inside of the car that covers the headliner and then slowly pull the headliner down which will be held on by Velcro fasteners and some glue. You have to be gentle as the headliner may rip if you're too rough. Once the headliner is removed, you can get to the motor and cables

Sunroof wont close on 1990 celica gti

some cars sunroof regulators come with a couple settings in sunroof
1 the 30 degree back tilt
2 half open stop sun roof
3 full open sunroof
these are common on sunroofs

now lets look at what could be the cause
bad regulator or needed greased gears
track needs to be cleaned which can stick the wheels down
most sunroofed vehicle regulators or gear boxes you will find in the trunk way up by the wheel wells in that little compartment tight to get out
also there should be a manual crank for sunroof placed somewhere in vehicle i know for my bmw it was back in the trunk on the gear box you will have to call dealer or look in manual to find sunroof manual crank and how to close
recommend taken to the closes dealer and have them service your sunroof mechanicals and have it cleaned up
sunroofs like cars needs to be cleaned on a certain milelage interval so that it will work for a long time
