My 1986 Mercedes 300e starts
I hope u had a pressure test done on the fuel pump. having said that, make sure there are no loose or faulty electrical connections at the coil or alternator and ur distribution system. Then another thing that could cause this is a vacuum leak at the throttle body unit. Check to be sure there are no missing or loose mount bolts also vacuum leaks can occur at intake manifold gasket areas and other vacuum hoses. Hope this helps

I need a diagram that's help me to replace the water pump for 1986 300E Mercedes Benz
I suggest buying the CD with instructions and diagrams. it is not impossible but important to do it right and correct torqing of bolts is critical.
Also, Imperative that you replace the belt tensioner and the small shock attached to it. These usually fail shortly after the original water pump. replacing it now is easy replacing it later is very painful.

Cold start valve problem
if you have an electric cold start valve make sure to unplug it and if keeps apling fuel with electrical conector unpluged that means the valve is not good, but if not then you have an electronic problem, possible a bad cold start sensor or cold start module or cicuit problem, and might be a time to take it to an electrical shop
