I get no smoke at all. I put gasket sealer in the reserve and drove three hours and right when I got to dest. it overheated. I turned it off. It cooled down. It had a puddle when I came out ritght in the middle on ground under engine but It leaked off the sheil underneath. I opened the hood and it looked like water blew from the hose going to the radiator next to the fan onto the water pump

the coolant temp sensor is at the rear of the engine and is a "bad word" to get to. the 3 relays are at the bottom, under the fans. if you remove the driver side fan out of the way( 2 10mm bolts holding the fan) you should have good access to them. they do have locks on them and may be tricky to unplug. there is a 7/16 nut holding the relay plate down. remove and it should be easy to remove them.

Allow it to cool down and refill system while running with heater on hot. Hopefully this will get the air out of the system. However, if this condition persists, have the radiator checked for hydrocarbons. These engines are sensitive to overheat and you may have blown a head gasket. (hope not)
Good luck!

As an added thought. With the overheating documented as GM Elec posted. Have the serpentine belt and especially the belt tensioner checked. Tensioners will fool you sometimes.

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line, this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.
