My car turns off when is cold

Check the catalytic converter if front of muffler....When they get clogged you lose power. Unlawfully you can cut it off and straight pipe. Don't throw it away...They bring a pretty dollar!

If the gauge does not go back to cold when the engine is cold, it could be the gauge on the dash. I am assuming the gas gauge drops with the key off.
You could unplug the temp sensor on the engine to see if it makes any difference.

YOur guage is faulty. Your will need to replace your guage if it stays in the hot position even when your car is off and your key is out of the ignition. If it only rises to hot when you turn the key to the run position, you have a wire between your guage and your temp sending unit that has been gounded out. Usually this happens when a person opens their hood to add oil or perform some minor maintenance on the engine and inadvertantly bumps the sensor or switch or wiring. This causes about 65% of these minor issues people incur, but if it does stay all the way up with your key out of the ignition switch, then you will need to replace your temp guage.

Try this. When you first try to turn your engine on, keep your foot on the gas pedal. The car should turn over but not start. (don't worry, its not supposed to). Take your foot off the gas and turn the ignition on again, but Don't touch the throttle this time. That should set your choke correctly. To summarise: Turn key with foot on Gas. Take foot off Gas, and turn key again.

Find your low level sensor on the overflow bottle. Sometimes they come embedded and molded into the bottle and you just change the overflow bottle, sensor and all. Should be same as most Caprices.

The hoses that are "cut" are silicone and better quality if properly cut. They withstand more heat, but Molded hoses have advantages too.

What I do not see here is any mention of a Thermostat. Lack of one would explain low temp readings. Also if you saying "Beyond the cold" is below the cold mark, then the water temp sensor(sends info to dash) may not work or the dash gauge is broke. When the car engine runs, it should move higher than cold.

You will need proper operating temperature for all the engine controls to work normally and will get better gas mileage.

It sounds to me like your engine coolant level may be exremely low and your engine is probably severly overheating. I would recommend checking your coolant (antifreeze) level and checking for possible engine damage due to overheating.

Seems the VSS is faulty. Vehicle Speed Sensor. This sensor drives the speedo ( Odometer )

this might well be the air flow valve it is located in the intake duct work. this works to control the air flow to your motor to optimize volumetric efficiency. when these stick its chiking out the motor this is a good place to start

you can have a gas line leak or most lilely a bad injector

Try looking at the hot/cold switch.
