1992 Buick Regal crank sensor

Car will start fine until it runs for a time and then it will stall at a light or it will not start after it's shut off and you try to start it right away. I'm thinking it may be the Cam sensor? Any help will be appreciated Thanks, Smoker.

You may be right, but if it is a sensor you should get a check engine light and a trouble code for the lost signal.
Could also be something like a fuel pump relay or idle air control valve.

Sounds like your car is overheating. If you have a temp gauge it should show that. If you just have an idiot light, by the time it comes on it's already too hot to operate. AFTER the car is cooled down, open the radiator cap to see how much coolant has been lost. Chances are there is alot missing. Add WATER (no sense in adding coolant if it's going to leak out) and idle the car at home. Look underneath as it warms up to find where the leak is.

it is the large round piece located in the round plastic flex tube that connects to your air filter and the other end to the throttle body, you can do a tap test on this piece, start your car,and tap on the flat part of the MAF sensor,if your car stalls right out it bad,use a screw driver handle to tap with.

1991 Buick Ragal Custom 3.1 starts, then stalls immediately.

You need the exhaust converter so the O2 sensor can
work properly

It sounds as though the converter is blocked,as well
as the fuel trim, if that is correct term for an OBD1 System,
is not able to report back the oxygen in the failed converter

So the ecm can not provide the correct fuel mixture by
pulsing the injectors

I would also expect the timing chain to have a lot of slop
& possibly be off a couple teeth, from worm plastic gear
on cam

1993 Buick Regal 3.1 - just purchased for my son and it's been running fine for about 2 weeks. One day he was driving and it stalled and would not re-start. Changed the fuel filter, pump is working fine. ...

Do you have a check engine light on? If yes; try to get the code, have someone loan you a scan tool to access the codes. If you do not have a check engine light on it is not a ecm control issue, ie. (cam or crank sensors etc). Suspect the fuel pump. If you are certain it is working ok. Next is to check the coil pack and Ignition module. Look for spark at the plugs. Pull a plug wire and look / listen for spark to jump out the end to bear metal as you spin the engine trying to start it.

I have found the most common part failure issue with the ignition system is the crank sensor, also called by some the TDC sensor.

Check engine light comes on and goes off

Try putting somw SEAFOAM into your tank. It either your O2-sensor, or EGR-valve. Alot of the time, SEAFOAM will clean these sensor up????
