If you press and hold the 1&4 or 2&3 buttons together for 6 - 9 seconds a 3 digit number appears (xxx). Hold the AM FM button a second 3 digit number appears (yyy)

Call 1800-537-5140 when recording starts press 106010*xxxyyy* and it will give you your code

My 97 jimmy wont give me my second 3 digit code but good luck

Well it took information from a couple of sites but I finally got it.

the unlock code to the 1997 GMC Jimmy is 1651.

1&4 or 2&3 buttons together for 6 - 9 seconds a 3 digit number appears (xxx). Hold the AM FM button a second 3 digit number appears (yyy). If the number does not change it is the same. The code was 022 in mine. so I called 1800-537-5140 when recording started I pressed 106010# and then 022022* and it gave me the code.

It is written in your owners manual. you need a code which the original owner would have written down somewhere in the manual. If no code, no radio. Only the dealer can unlock and make new code.

A quick call to a dealer should get you
some type answer on what is required
to get the code
I will only guess & say there is a possiblitiy
that you will need a scan tool to get the factory
code or whatever is in the radio now.
Most likely will have to pay for that
Call first,I'm only guessing

Go to the owner's section of the gmc site. They may have a solution there for the radio lock code.

You will have to go to the dealer to have it unlocked... period. they don't charge for it and it only takes a few minutes.

Radio is locked
Stop in at your local dealership. They will be able to give you that info. In some cases they want to see you are the owner of the car. I have had to do this and was not charged.

the loc code is set the first time the radio is turned on. if you don't know the code there is no legal way to unlock it with out the tools at the dealership.
