96 nissan engine knocks

I have a 96 nissan sentra gxe and it knocks loud when I accelerate. When sitting still it is quiet or even rev the engine in neutral still quite. What could be some problems?

A noise in the engine is not a good news but you have 70% chance that you engine crank shaft and parts arround it are bad. in some case if your car is auttomatic ,a crack in the flight weell may cause the "knocking sound " please ck you fly w before you make decisions .if you engine is bad ..,, change it .it will cost you more to try to fix it

A wet air filter was put into my nissan sentra gxe with a 1.8L engine. It will start and idle, but won't rev much past 2000 rpm's. The filter was rmoved and the car sat in the sun all day hopi

never wash or wet an air filter as it closes up the pores in the paper element
fit a new element and then run the fault codes or reset the ECM using a scan tool

I have a 1996 nissan sentra gxe had engine was knocking check the oil had none put oil in enginge had no power and was still knocking the shut off and wont crank back up

You may have seized the engine-if your battery is fully charged and you cannot the engine to crank, the engine may be toast-try putting a socket on the crankshaft pulley ( I think it is a 24mm) and rotate it clockwise with a breaker bar-if you cannot turn it by hand, the engine is done.

Check for timing belt slapping inside of cover. Should have been changed at 60,000 miles. The cover has an inspection hole. Remove plastic plug to inspect.

ok the fuel pressure is very good , and you replace maf sensor too,
i think 2 probable throubles, one , the catalyc converter clogged , to check remove exhaust pipe section before catalyc and run engine, its very loudness, other is tps fault, tps is throttle position sensor, located on acceleration body

2003 Nissan sentra 2003 gxe, had 4 yrs, no problems, blows cold air only, had lines flushed to remove air, thermostat works fine, is it the head gasket?

Start the car up when it is cold and rev the engine up for 30 seconds,loosen up the radiator cap and see if there is pressure there..If there is you probably have a bad head gasket...Caution do not open cap if engine is warm...
