This has happened about 4 or 5 times in the past 2 months but seems to be becoming more frequent. I pull out of my driveway (slanted at the bottom) in the morning, drive about 2 blocks, get up to about 25+ mph and then suddenly the car seems like it's in neutral. RPMs rev up, car starts to slow...I put blinkers on and get ready to turn (coast around) the corner, and then suddenly it starts to go again and acts fine until another day when it happens at random. Last night was the only exception (as far as distance)...after starting for the first time of the day, I got about 3/4 a mile from home and it did it on a straight road; I turned (coasted) a corner and then it recovered then acted normal. (Sometimes it recovers before actually turning the corner.) It doesn't make any funny noises or anything else noticable. You don't even feel anything happen until pressing the gas and then you can feel it's revving instead of accelerating. I checked the fluid this afternoon and it was in the hash-mark range, but I don't think it was all the way to the full-end of the hashed area. I added about 1/4 of a quart of fluid; since it only does it 'sometimes' I'm not sure how to check if that helped. Is low-ish fluid a likely cause?

It sounds like to me you have a faulty Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. You can get these at www.rockauto.com cheaper then anywhere else.

Is it possible that the sound is happening every time you hit 14 mph after a fresh start? The TC does a ABS check 14 mph that runs the pump for a second.

Car sat for 10 days while on vacation. No problems before it was parked. I came back and turned key.....slight click as if battery was dead. Battery is fully charged. Any ideas?

The other issue that might be a contributing factor (but I don't know) is that the car is really bouncy due to it needing front air bags. Sometimes the Traction Control thingy engages because of the bouncing. Would that affect the transmission or cause it to 'disengage' temporarily? (Again, though, each time it happens it's only after the first start of the day, and only one instance per incident.)
