Intermitent power 98 Taurus 95K milage. Was running fine and then it just stopped responding to the gas pedal. If I turn it off and start it again it runs ok until I come to a stop and then try to take off again. It bucks and acts as if it's gas deprived, it bearly gets up to 20mph and will die out. The tach shows no increase when stepping on the pedal, but turn it off and it comes back to life until the next stop sign. Transmission problem? Bad gas? Electrical? Fuel Filter?..........

Why wont my car accelerate?

If you have an overdrive transmission the direct drive clutch may not be releasing. Have the trouble codes read to see if the computer or a sensor is starting to fail.

I have problems with my 98 chevy k1500 pickup on the highway. Once i hit about 65 mph it wont accelerate and it backfires. also, after i come to a stop and try to accelerate up to highway speeds again,...

If it is running bad enough to be backfiring, the Check Engine light should be on. I would start with scanning the engine computer for fault codes.

Engine stalls, then runs after pressing accelerator

If you were low on gas at the time, it could have shifted the fuel in the tank when you turned. The engine can stall for a couple of seconds and then restart as the fuel pump primes again.

2003 ford taurus, been running fine. This morning I start it let it warm up (still seems fine). Stop at gas station put gas in it, I go to leave and it won't start. It has plenty of power, and it turns...

Could it be the fuel pump? If you let it sit for a bit then turn the key on and listen for it to pressurize the system you can tell if it's working or not.

Nissan Sentra random stalls and wont start hot

Check out the catalytic converter, might be plugged up. I have seen some cars that will run fine, and like someone threw a switch the car acted like yours, no power, would not rev and died. Later when cold they would be OK for a while then just get worse and worse.
