Possible bad contacts in bulb holder or ripped copper dash contact where bulb holder screws in also check for bad solder joints in cluster or contact in harness plugs for cluster//////do a ecm self test (a) just turn the key to the on position all dash lights including check engine should be on then go off except for oil battery/charging if you see your check engine abs at first then they go off this is normal and ok if not look for bad connection coming into the cab from the firewall harness bus connector this comes from the ecm
So you are saying the bulb for the check engine light is burned out and needs to be replaced ?? And the trouble codes you listed are for lean fuel mixture which could point to a vac leak or low fuel pressure.
My first question is what year and model is your Pontiac ?? You may be able to disconnect the battery and clear the codes, or you may have to use a code reader depending on the year. As for the check engine light, if it does not come on when you turn the key on, either the fuse is blown, or the bulb in the cluster. The warning light must come on when you turn the key on no matter if there are trouble codes in the computer.
Bulb is probably blown. Most gage clusters can be removed easily so you can replace bulbs. If you find the bulb is missing then someone took it out to avoid getting the engine problem fixed,
When you first put the key and turn it to ignition, all of your dash lights should light. That is how you check your lights. It is not an easy thing to replace. The dash lights are replaced as a unit. Check with your local auto shop for the part or you Toyota dealer.
If the brake light works, disconnect battery negative with ignition key ON and Radio ON, but engine OFF, four minutes after connect Battery terminal, do not panic if terminal sparks wile connecting, *** it well turn ignition key OFF, than start the motor and verify if problem remains
