The blower for my heater works but the air is not hot. I drive a 1997 Ford Contour. I've had a lot of problems recently with the cooling system. It was overheating for a long time and we've replaced about everything. We replaced the head gasket, the water pump, the raditor (twice), the radiator hoses, the coolant sensor (three times), the fan switch, the radiator cap, the thermostat (three times), the system has been flushed out twice and then they said they thought that the fan had a short in the wire coming from the computer to the fan so they ended up direct wiring it so that it runs all the time to keep the car from overheating. So now the fan runs all the time but the heater doesn't work. I thought it was because the car wasn't warming up enough to make the water hot for the heater to work but if you sit idle long enough the temperature gauge will go up and the heater still does not work. Any ideas?
Thanks
Heater blower motor does not until you acelerate engine
Sounds like Heater matrix blocked, check pipes going from engine bay into bulk head both should be getting hot if one is not then may be worth removing pipes and trying to flush it through as would be expensive to renew it as its a large job.
