On my 2003 Avalanche, after the radio has been on for a few minutes static starts in the front right speaker then travels to all of them. As the static gets louder the radio volume goes down and the static volume rises until the point it's so loud I have to pull the fuse to stop it. The static is still going even when the key is turned off and the radio is off unless I pull the radio fuse. I was told by 3 people including the dealership it was the radio. I installed an aftermarket radio and the static in the front right speaker is still there. Could it be the Bose Amp? If so where is it located?

Take out the speaker in question and test it.
a 9v battery is good enough to 'burp' it.
if it makes a scratchy noise when you put power to it then you have a short in the voice coil.
Burping a speaker is just a short power up. Don't hold power to it.
Tap it on and off like a music note measure.

SOURCE: MY FACTORY RADIO VOLUME PROBS

More than likely with a 2003, the speakers that cut out are in the door or doors. Do they cut out of both speakers?

If they cut out of one, then you may have an intermittent speaker ( the wire to the cone becomes partially connected)

If both speakers turn off at the same time and you hear NOTHING on all speakers, then you more than likely have an intermittent connection on the radio itself and probably replacement is probably cheaper than fixing the radio.

One more thing
Factory radios sometimes have an amplifier in them. Sounds funny but they call the Radio in the dash the Head Unit and the amplifier is buried in the dash. You could have a bad amplifier or a loose power connection to it, but that is very unlikely.

Hope this helps.

Did they ALL stop at the same time?

Are you running an AMP?

It sounds like your Radio Settings, Radio Internal Failure or a Wiring Fault on the REAR of the Radio..

2004 Avalanche/Radio speakers blown, all of them. The rear speaker was the last one working, then a pop in the front left of the dash, and the speaker is dead. What is going on?

either you are running an aftermarket stereo with too much power for the OEM speakers, or your OEM radio has malfunctioned and there is stray voltage getting to the speakers. in the prior case you need to upgrade your speakers, in the latter case you need to look around and find a replacement used working OEM radio. used OEM radios can be had on eBay, at junkyards, at stereo install shops, and by looking around on craagslist, to name a few.

look on youtube.com for videos of folks pulling a dashboard, console, stereo, or speaker replacement on your vehicle. Or you can buy a repair manual which can be had on CD for about 5 bucks on eBay.
