Ok, so I posted that I have a 1999 Nissan Sentra and that it has been overheating and we replaced the thermostat and the water pump and it was still overheating. Fans are fine and sensor is fine. Bought head gasket to replace it and hopefully fix the problem, but when they went to start to working on replacing that, they found that whoever owned the car before me used liquid glass apparently to temporarily fix the same problem I am having. I have now been told that I need to either look for a motor or have that one rebuilt. Is this the only way to fix this problem or do I have other options. I talked with someone at Auto Zone and they said that I could take the head to a machine shop and have them remove the liquid glass and make sure the head was even, but the person who his working on my car said that if the head was cracked, that was not going to fix the problem and would be throwing away money. What can I do at this point? I need to fix the problem if it is reasonable to fix it, but if it is going to cost me more than the car is worth, I don't want to spend time and money fixing it. So what are other options?
For a 99 model a used engine might be the cheapest route. You can have the head checked for cracks and warpage - repair or replace as needed. The block can also be warped which will make the new head gasket leak.
Do you know for a fact the overheating is because you are leaking coolant into the engine ?

all you have to do is inspect the old trunk door how it is attached to the hinges.
be careful on the tension bars that are lifting the trunk. once you released them, the trunk would just fall down.
there are two of these tension bars, they are like springs to help you lift the trunk and they are very tricky to remove and install
after you have done that then it just a matter of removing 2 bolts on each side of the hinge and remove the trunk.
if you have electrical accessories attached to the trunk such as solenoids or trunk cables, remove them first.
then do the reverse on installation.
you may want somebody helping you hold to the trunk before you remove the bolts. they are heavy.

Hi the car would only need to overheat once to blow the head gasket,, it depends on how hot the engine got and how long you carried on driving it, you can boil the oil crack the cylinder head ect,,, check the oil for water mixing with it (common sign of head gasket failure) the oil goes like a milky colour,, but if you have already checked this then still dont rule the head gasket out,,, it can leak the other way water out of the cylinder head,,, check for any signs of dripping water around the cylinder head, white smoke from exhaust pipe ect,,
But the best way to rule it out would be to get a compression test done this wont cost much and give you a definate answer,, If it is the headgasket it aint expensive to buy the parts its the labour that cost as it aint a small job,,, if you have the manual give it a go yourself and remember you can post on here if you get stuck along the way,,

I had this exact problem a few weeks ago. The repair shop first changed the thermostat. Didn't fix the problem. Next step, they found the radiator was clogged. They replaced the radiator and now everything works fine.

It could be just air in the system, or it could be the heater matrix just by your feet, fitted central dash, check to see if the two water pipes that go into the car from the engine compartment are hot if there is only one that is then thats your problem, but if they are both cold the problem is more to do with where the water is coming from, please let me know how you get on
