SOURCE: Ignition failing to start -S280 MERCEDES BENZ 1999 MODEL

Crank shaft position sensor is bad. This is the most common failure. Its location is on the rear drivers side of engine, where the transmission bell housing mates to the engine, only one small bolt and a two prong electrical connector hold it on. Usually will not throw a trouble code. If you remove it you can test it with an ohm meter, will have an erratic reading or read open loop, can malfunction intermittently or permanently after parking vehicle and won't restart. Applying some heat source to it during ohm testing with a hot air heat gun will usually cause the sensor to read open loop if your not sure if its bad or not. This reply is probably way to late, but I just happened to come accross it while online. Harry (master certified MBZ diagnostic tech)

SOURCE: power seats don't work on a mercedes benz 300e

most likely dirty switches or bad fuses. Try rotating fuses and then try moving them again. Corrosion on the fuses cause "gremlins" in the system. If not find a junkyard and pull out a set of used switches or try autohausaz.com for new replacements.

Check the underside of your hood for a belt diagram. If it's not there, call your dealer with your VIN number to get the correct diagram.

SOURCE: i need the mercedes benz 1999 clk 430 radio code

AR82.60-P-7502-01A Coding Radio
(MODEL all with CODE (750) Radio Becker Europa 2000 with CODE (751) Radio Becker Grand Prix 2000 with RDS)

  1. If the radio is disconnected from the power supply, it is not operational when re-connected. After switching on the ignition and the radio, the readout CODE appears in the display.
  2. The code number for the radio is advised to you on the enclosed CODE CARD.
  3. To enter the first digit of the code number, you have to continue pressing station button 1 until the correct digit appears in the display. Adopt the same procedure for the second, third and fourth digits.
  4. Once you have entered the correct code number with the station buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and confirmed the entry with the SEEK button (press down), the readout CODE disappears. The radio can now be operated.
  5. If you enter a wrong code three times, you must wait 15 minutes before making a new entry. In addition, if 9 incorrect entries are made, the radio will then not operate for 24 hours. During this time the radio and the ignition (terminal 15) must remain switched on.
AR82.60-P-7502-01B Coding Radio
(MODEL all with CODE (353) Audio 30 APS with CODE (510a) Radio MB Exquisit with traffic news decoder, with RDS (Becker) with CODE (512a) Radio MB Special with traffic news decoder, with RDS.)

  1. If the radio is disconnected from the power supply, it cannot be operated by simply reconnecting. After switching on the ignition and the radio the word "CODE" appears in the display on the radio.
  2. The code number for the radio is given on the enclosed CODE CARD.
  3. Enter the code number with the station button, e.g. number 1, station button 1. After entering the first number the word "CODE" disappears and the number entered appears followed by 4 dashes. The next character to be entered flashes. After entering all five numbers, the first character starts flashing again. In this state the code number can be written over as frequently as desired. A correction can be made only by entering the complete code number again.
  4. Confirm code number: Press TUNE, AUTO/SEEK or SC button. The radio automatically switches on and indicates the radio station or frequency stored with station button 1.
  5. If an incorrect code number is entered and confirmed, the word "CODE" appears again on the display. If an incorrect code is entered three times the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio locks up for approx. 10 min. If the code is entered incorrectly three times again the radio locks up again for 10 min. Three more incorrect entries (a total of 9 incorrect attempts) increase the lock-up time to 60 min. Another three incorrect entries lock up the radio for another 60 min. The waiting time runs only when the radio is switched on.

Battery keeps drainig overnight

You have a slow drain of power inside the car wiring. It could be a relay sticking closed, a short to ground somewhere, or a component using power when it should be switched off like a courtesy lamp.
The fuses have to be pulled to find the circuit with the drain.

The battery alternator visit workshop remains on but the car runs well.

Have the alternator output verified by a tester. Alternators don't always fail 100%, sometimes they keep charging, but at reduced capacity. A bad diode, winding, or brush is all it takes. It may work fine until you start running lots of accessories, then drain the battery badly.

My 2007 mercedes benz R350 battery drains everyday. Tried replacing the battery yet still the same problem. Please help

The alternator is unserviceable which doesn't keep the charging system going. When the battery is fully charged the vech will run and drive for a while until it drains the charge down in the battery because it isn't being replaced by the alternator......Hope this helps.

My mercedes sat for 10 months while I recuperated from injuries. The battery was completely dead. Remote didn't even work. We were able to jumpstart it with battery cables but it won't keep running. Dead...

You will burn out your alternator if you keep on doing this. The alternator is not a charger. If you have a dead battery you should always charge it overnight on a charger. To keep the battery fresh all that you have to do is disconnect the terminals.Yes this is normal because the car has clocks and alarms that drain power even when the key is off. If you let the battery set to long while it is drained it will not take a charge.

My 1992,190e,2.6L benz responds slow when you press on the gas pedal. what could cause this problem?

Worn ignition components or bad fuel system issue. With the vehicles age I would suggest a full tune up as people seem to think Mercedes means all parts last forever.

My alternator and battery tested good.

Something is draining the power. You have an open circuit somewhere. The sooner it drains(1-2 hours) the bigger the load, the more heat you should be able to detect from the drain. If it takes a lot longer(like overnight) then it will be a little harder to detect. Try unhooking things one at a time. Your alternator could be working properly when the car is running, then shorting when its off. That would make the drain fast. A light staying on under the hood or in the trunk, or dome light would make it drain slower. Or it could be just a wire shorting to ground.

Sounds like you have something draining the battery. Use a multimeter and see what fuses are still pulling power when off. You also may need a new battery and regulator on your alternator.
