SOURCE: 04 pontiac grand am battery light
if our battery light stay on 1st check all fuses 2nd if the alternator charge good it might be the circuit of alternator that give power to dash that not working alternator charge good but dont send signal to computer me i would check the fuses first under the hood and inside car after i would disconnect the battery for 5 minute reconnect and see if computer reset light i would start with that thanks pierre
SOURCE: battery keeps dying. alternator good
its definitly something taking power ,have you install something new lately, car stereo, amp,if not could be just car trunk light, under hood light, stays on.things to check
SOURCE: BATTERY DIES OUT IN 2-3 DAYS.
are you saying that you got this battery from autozone? I went thru three batteries in a week from autozone because the lot# was bad. It,'s quite possible that you have either a short that is draining the battery or that the alternator isnt charging properly. To do a fast check, start the car then remove the positive battery cable with the car running. If it stays running, theres a chance its ok. If it dies, It's most likely the alternator or the voltage regulator Diods. On most cars, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I would take it to autozone and have the charging system checked

Ok..sorry for the lack of details. The car starts on a freshly charged battery but the charge dwindles down in about a day. We have check the battery...its brand new and the voltage with engine off is at around 12.3 or so. The alternator is also new...even exchanged it for another one when the problem continued. when meter testing the alternator while running it shows around 1 or less...IF i am checking it right...red lead to red wire post on ALT and black to ground. the belt is tight and the ALT spins with power. the ALT does have a multi prong click in unit in the back of it and im pretty sure its on right. why would i not get a better reading from the ALT when running?? It was bench tested at the auto store before i left with it and it checked out fine there...could this be a computer error? Some one mentioned to discon the battery for a period of time...i do this every day to recharge the battery. also ive read about an "always on" thing ie clocks etc. if there were no ALT charging the battery. how long would it last?....Thanks for your help
More info for you. Ive checked all the fuses i know about but also read about "fusible links" that might be on the system. My big question is why is the ALT not producing power. Im no mechanic...or even a back yard oil changer but i would assume that a new ALT would be producing power to the battery unless there is a short between the ALT and the battery??? If Im not mistaken, the power that ALT produces is done via the belts that spin it. So seeing it spin...and getting little or no reading when meter checked stumps me
