Was this car in an accident and if so perhaps the filler tube was bent in the process.inspect or have a reputable shop inspect for any damage to tube or surrounding areas. Perhaps there might be a forien object that got lodged in the filler tube.

your starter is bad.... the two contacts inside the solinoid are worn out only way to fix is replace the unit as a whole bet ya you get click click click then my start.. bet my life on this one been fixin toyotas for 20+ years

i'm sure it's not the starter itself that is the problem, have the stater's solenoid checked...it might be stucked. It's quite a lot of work removing the starter but you can do it if you are willing enough to learn. You just need the right idea and tools to do it. Hope this will help save you bucks!

My 2000 camry v6 has new battery but carstill wont start ,click coming from starter give it a tap and it starts and works fine restof day, then wont start in morning again do i need a new starter

Yes .The brushes are worn and by tapping it you are assisting it to reach a high point.This won't work for very long

My 1999 Toyota Camry will not start all the time. The battery, alternator, starter all check out and I've had the battery connectors replaced. The dash lights come on when I turn the key. Oddly, when I...

-Possibly battery cable has not good connection between battery to starter. Or may be the cable itself is corrosion . (Keep in mind that outside look good but may be inside is fill and build with acid)
-Or may be the starter itself is worn out to the point not working as well.
-Check it out and replace it.

2002 toyota Camry. won't start

Had same problem. Get manual diagram for starter assembly from manualspace.com. Tap starter assembly sticking out driver side of engine block with ballpeen hammer, or similar small hammer. Try a few times. Probably will restart, but need to replace starter assembly. Aloha!
