93 s-10 4x4 the 3 vac lines from transfer case switch goes where

on your Jimmy you need to put it in 4 hi and up under the battery tray is the actuator for the front dif. make sure the vac hose going up to it has vacuum. if it doesn't then start tracking the hoses going down to the transfer case. one goes to the actuator, one to the vents on the transfer case and transmission and one goes back up to the vacuum canister, it's located on the hood on the drivers side. if the canister isn't getting vacuum then nothing is going to work. i just had to repair the hoses in the truck i put the trans in. the 4 wheel drive now works in it. i would have never know this, the hoses drop over by the exhaust and get hot and burnt and start cracking and breaking up and leaking. this can also cause some minor running problems. also. one last note. where the hoses attach on the transfer case. that connector has to go on correctly. it has a pin hole in it to line up on. if you put in on wrong things won't work.

Hi, the vacuum switch is located in the top of the transfer case, in the area where the front drve shaft goes out. There is a 3 vacuum hose connector that attaches to it. Good luck...Coop

The lines connect to the toggle switch, and run down to the transfer case.

do you have vacumn at the t/c switch when engine is running if not trace the line back to the engine also that line tees off to the vac ball

There is a vacuum switch where the three vacuum line plugs in to and that is located on the driver's side on top of the transfer case. Most of the time the vacuum switch goes bad and needs to be replace and goes for around $25.00 at Napa or Auto Zone and takes about 20 min to replace from start to finish. It's a tight fit for the open end wrench but it can be done, good luck and Merry Xmas.

Check to see if the front diff is being engaged. Ther is a vac switch that come from the transfer case. It sits right on top has 3 lines. One line is vac input the other is vac output the third is a vent. When you push the 4wd button that switch allows the vac to the front diff. The front diff actuator is under the battery. Check to see if the actuator is moving if not check to see if the switch is any good by checking vac on the actutor line. You can doo this with out taking out the battery. You will see a line that goes from the back of the engine up the right side then under the batt. It is covered by wire loom. Cut in to it and see if there is vac. If not check to see the switch works. If there is then check to see if the actuator is torn( actuator looks like a cruse control actuator) or the cable to the front diff is stuck.

The vacuum actuator that locks in the front differential is not working, It is either bad or has no vac to it. It is controlled by a vac switch in the top of the transfer case. check the vac supply to the switch and the actuator.

shift into 4wd and move truck a couple of feet.
if light is still off, park truck block the wheels set the park brake jack right front wheel and try to hand spin the wheel if wheel doesn't turn 4x4 is functioning properly but there is a wiring problem use an ohmmeter to check the 4x4 switch wiring fuse and bulb
if wheel turns freely the front axle or transfer case is not engaged
attempt to hand spin the front driveshft if the driveshaft will spin the transfer case is not engaged check the transfer case shift linkage, problem is in linkage or transfer case internals
if the driveshaft will not spin the transfer case is engaged properly
with trnsmission in neutral or park start engine measure vacuum on the two vac lines at front axle shift motor . one line should have approx 20" vacuum. other line should have none
if no vacuum measured look for vac leak or bad vac switch
if both lines have vac look for a bad vac swithc or ruptured cad actuator diaphragm
if one line has 20" +- VAC
move transfer case lever to 2wd measure vac again lines should have swapped vac signals
if no vac switch bad or 4wd shift likage needs adjusting
if yes vac motor bad or stuck or shift fork stuck
remove vac shift motor from the axle attach vac lines to shift motor engage disengage 4wd
does shift motor plunger move at least 1/2 inch
no shift motor bad
yes check axle shift fork and vac motor for binging

check you vacuum motor and vacuum lines going to the vacuum motor from the top of the transfer case. when u engage your 4WD the valves on the transfer case are opened by a switch on the transfer case. the lines coming from the switch cross the top of the transmission and up the passenger side of the engine compartment. these lines will be red, blue, green and yellow, and often covered by a black sheeth, about 1inch in diameter. check these lines to make sure they are connected. if they are not, the vacuum motor will not engage your front axle. your front driveshaft will still spin, because the transfer case is engaged as normal, but the right front axleshaft is a 2 piece system engaged by this vacuum motor. if they lines are messed up, the motor will not engage the axle collar connecting the 2-piece axle. if your vacuum motor is working, then you might have a broken collar, or perhaps a broken axle shaft. but it's probably just the vacuum hoses or the motor :) i hope that helps!
