ENGINE WONT TURN OVER

If you try to start it and it turns over at all then its not seized. The solution may be as simple as a new fuel filter or a new fuel pump.

If the timing belt has over 100,000 miles on it revisit the timing belt possibilty. even though it can look ok it can have stripped one or two teeth. next listen for the fuel pump in the tank to run for about 5 seconds after you turn on the key. if it's not you likely need a new one. Next check for spark at the spark plug. you can do this buy removing the wire from the plug & inserting another one into the wire then hold the threaded part against a metal part of the engine & have a friend turn over the engine. if you see spark your good. if there is no spark you could have a number of issues & you will need to follow that up. All this is asuming the engine is turning over. if not your starter may be at fault.

my 01 did that and it was the plug wires it bucked real bad
next time it happened it was just sluggish up hills and light would come on. it was the fuel filter it had 255,000 miles on it

is there a relay or bad ground do the head lights come on

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. My Kia Rio Cinco is having problems. Sometimes I hit the gas and the car barely moves so I put it in park and tap the gas and finally it moves. It has happened 2 times.

My 2004 Kia Rio just started losing compression and died on me. I tried starting it and it only clicks. I checked the battery cables and they are not corroded and very tight. Could it be the battery or the alternator not charging the battery? there is no water in the oil and it's not the water pump.

Have you tried to turn the engine over manually? May be locked up.

This could be a bad thing or it could just be the guage failed. I would bring it in to dealer and hope you are under waranty meaning under 100,000 miles. And single owner.

If the check engine light is going on and off then it is very highly likely pointing to a misfire, and this could be due to any number of things, and your best bet by far is to have a code read done as this will give you information as to the cause of the problem, if not point you directly at the problem itself.

It could be coil packs, spark plugs, injectors, crank sensor, cam sensor, any number of things.
